Yesterday I reported on the nationwide release of Pepsi’s new prebiotic sodas and gently warned you that we weren’t huge fans of them when we tried them for ourselves a few months ago. Today, I’m trying another new prebiotic soda flavor from Bloom: Bloom Pop Root Beer Float. Just in case you thought this trend was going to taper off in 2026, I’m here to tell you to strap in. Fibermaxxing is in full swing. We’re just getting started.

We’ve ranked pretty much the whole gamut of prebiotic and probiotic sodas here at Sporked, from Olipop to Poppi to—you guessed it—Bloom. We pretty much know how impossible it is to escape that strange, synthetic, often vinegary aftertaste in every sip. But I’m always hopeful that when I find a new flavor of prebiotic soda in our work fridge, it will taste as pretty as it always looks. (Seriously, the can designs are always so deceptively beautiful.)

TLDR: I cracked open this new Bloom flavor with fairly low expectations. Let’s see if it met or surpassed them, shall we?

Pros: I think I’ve found my new favorite prebiotic soda. This is not a drill. First and foremost: That weird aftertaste is barely present. It’s kinda nuts, considering this has apple cider vinegar, something called “prebiotic xylooligosaccharides” (yikes, lol), and Stevia leaf extract for sweetening. Stevia and I do not get along, ever, but I actually love this? It’s so creamy, with a lovely, authentic vanilla ice cream flavor (and aroma) that draws you in.

Cons: I would have liked a slightly more prominent root beer or cola flavor, but that’s really the extent of my criticism.

Result: With a cozy creaminess and well-masked aftertaste, this new Bloom flavor belongs in our official ranking of the best prebiotic soda. We better update that, stat.

Sadly, I can never move back to my home state, Florida, because even if the seafood is totally unmatched, there aren’t enough Mediterranean or Korean restaurants to keep me sane.
