We Tried Strawberry Snickers (and Other Brazilian Snickers Flavors)

There I was, in the Brazilian aisle of one of the largest grocery stores in the country, when I spotted it: a Strawberry Snickers bar. No one told me that even existed! Shame on you. But it doesn’t end there. I also found a Peanut Brittle Snickers and a Passionfruit Snickers! One quick message to the boss later, and I was slated to review three wildly different Brazilian Snickers flavors. Read on for the cheapest international dining experience I’ve ever had.

Snickers Peanut Brittle

Peanut Brittle Snickers!

Snickers Peanut Brittle

Pros: This is basically a Snickers bar, so it’s fine. I was expecting a crunchy/crispy texture considering it’s marketed as peanut brittle, but it’s actually just a pretty standard Snickers with more peanuts than usual. Cross a Snickers with a Payday bar and you’ll get the idea.

Cons: This is super underwhelming. The extra quantity of peanuts changed the texture, but it didn’t make it taste like peanut brittle. I was just chewing regular peanuts longer since there were more of them. It isn’t bad, but it’s nothing to write home about—or ship from another country. You can skip this one, y’all.

Snickers Passionfruit

Passionfruit Snickers!

Snickers Passionfruit

Pros: Of the three Snickers flavors I tried, this is definitely the most interesting. There’s a firm passion fruit flavor here that holds its own against all the chocolate and caramel, which was unexpected. I don’t think I’ve ever had a candy bar with this flavor before. I wouldn’t buy another one, but I’m glad I tried it.

Cons: The tropical fruit smell was hit-or-miss with my fellow taste testers, giving off more “odor” than aroma to some. Ultimately, we all agreed this one didn’t live up to our hopes—even if we didn’t know exactly what we were hoping for.

Snickers Strawberry

Strawberry Snickers!

Snickers Strawberry

Pros: This Snickers flavor piqued my interest from the start for a reason: chocolate-and-nut-covered strawberries in candy bar form? Yes please. The strawberry flavor is excellent, blending well with the chocolate. While it doesn’t live up to all my hopes and dreams, it’s definitely my favorite of these three Snickers flavors. If any of these are being considered for a stateside release, I really hope it’s this one.

Cons: The chocolate-covered strawberry flavor doesn’t lend itself super well to the dry, crunchy texture of this candy bar. It’s about as far away from a juicy strawberry as you can get. Smaller peanut pieces might have helped the texture (and appearance). All three of these Snickers were a little drier than I’m used to, which could be because of international travel or perhaps different countries having different recipes.

Are there any other international Snickers flavors worth looking for?

Of course! In addition to these three flavors, there’s also a Brazilian Lime Mousse Snickers flavor that I couldn’t get shipped in time for this article. India also has a couple interesting flavors I’d love to get my hands on: Butterscotch, Pistachio, and Berry Whip! Let me know in the comments if we should do a part two covering a few more exotic Snickers flavors from around the world.

  • Pé de moleque is not peanut brittle. It’s similar, but it has a lot of different variations. At its most basic, it is caramel and sugar, and often times it is hard, but not always. It would be better translated as Brazilian caramel peanut candy than peanut brittle.

    • Caramel and peanuts* not caramel and sugar.

  • I got a butterscotch snickers at Walmart marketplace, it was divided into 3 sections. It was delicious, but I haven’t seen it again. I’d have bought the whole box if I’d known it was going to disappear.
