When you go to Buc-ee’s, what are you getting? Its brisket sandwich, or one of its other customer-approved menu items? Something from the Tabañero line that calls the store its home? Or, how about a jar of garlic cloves?

We’re willing to bet that the latter wasn’t high on your wish list – but it might be pretty soon. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on an easy-to-miss item in the Buc-ee’s line that has customers raving. Just don’t eat it on your next road trip…we don’t think your friends would thank you, or your breath.
Buc-ee’s Pickled Habanero Garlic Cloves…And A Bottle Of Water, Please
Buc-ee’s Pickled Habanero Garlic Cloves are far from the flashiest item available at the store – but in the last year or so, these jars have won a legion of fans online, with Buc-ee’s customers labelling them as a must-have every time they visit. Each jar is full of crunchy garlic cloves bathing in a vinegar solution, with a burst of gentle habanero in each bite (they’re not the spiciest garlic cloves around, but for anyone who’s especially averse to any heat whatsoever, Buc-ee’s also sells Pickled Garlic without any chili).
If there’s any doubt about the strength of feeling around these garlic cloves, you just have to look at what customers are saying about them. “These are damn good,” said one person on Reddit, in response to another person praising the cloves. Over on True Texas Merch, they currently rock a five-star rating – and you can also order them there if you’re nowhere near a Buc-ee’s location. While you’re at it, check out the rest of the pickled range at Buc-ee’s, which includes pickled eggs, asparagus, beets, green beans, and okra.
Make Yourself A Buc-ee’s Board
Buc-ee’s Pickled Habanero Garlic Cloves are a snack, sure – but if you ask me, this item screams “put me on a charcuterie board with some olives and breadsticks.” Or, “throw me into a salad with some other pickled vegetables, some shredded rotisserie chicken or deli meat, and some lettuce to offset all the flavors. Or, “place me in a fashionable ramekin at a cocktail party, and force everyone to cover their mouths while they’re speaking to each other for the rest of the night.” In fact, maybe they are better enjoyed on your lonesome, away from judging eyes and sensitive noses. Or, use them to ward off vampires and the like.
