Here that rumbling sound in the distance? It’s the sound of Whoppers rolling their way towards you. Burger King has been focusing on its Whopper for much of the year – and while it’s always got an eye on its signature burger, 2026 has seen it champion it extensively. The restaurant chain took a big step at the start of the year by updating the Whopper’s bun and mayo, a move that ultimately paid off in a better sandwich. Since then, it’s been releasing Whopper variants and making damn sure that if you don’t like the burger you get, they’ll make it right next time

Turns out that wasn’t enough for Burger King, though. Now, it’s giving them out for free. Whoppers for everyone!

Free Whopper: How To Get Yours

This Wednesday, Burger King dropped a surprise promotion for its customers, in the form of a free Whopper giveaway. To get yours, you just need to grab your phone and send the message SEND-THIS-TEXT-FOR-FREE-WHOPPER to 250783. You then get a response with a link, which you can use in-store to redeem your free burger for up to 14 days.

We know this sounds like it might be some kind of scam, but it’s totally legit, apparently. Customers who have entered the promo have reported successful free Whopper-age. One person also stated that they managed to nab a free bacon and cheese Whopper by asking the cashier, so if you’re in the market for something a bit heftier, don’t be afraid to put it out there. Further additions to your sandwich might cost extra, though – but given that the standard Whopper costs around $6, you’ll still likely be making a saving.

How Long Do I Have, Doc?

Burger King hasn’t said how long this promotion will last, but it’s fair to assume it won’t be sticking around for long. So, we’d recommend messaging sooner rather than later.

Its free Whopper promo is the latest move not just in its championing of its iconic sandwich, but in trying to tempt customers back into its stores, which it’s primarily been doing by making widespread improvements and really putting it out there that it’s listening to its customers. In some cases, this has worked; in others, it’s felt a little awkward. Either way, though, it’s definitely paying more attention to their experience than a lot of other chains out there. Burger King: We see you, and we appreciate the free burgers.
