For all who celebrate, this Thursday, April 2nd, is National Burrito Day. (It’s always the first Thursday in April, if you’re curious.) And what better way to celebrate the sting of fake April Fool’s Day announcements than with very real burrito deals you can’t get any other time of year?

Some quick tips before we get into this: Go early, because the good burritos sells out fast. (History proves this.) Download the restaurant apps to make sure you’re getting the best deals—most National Burrito Day deals are locked behind rewards programs. And please, please don’t sleep on your local taquerias. National Burrito Day is often their moment to shine.

Chipotle Burrito Day Deals

I’ll get to their infamous  “Burrito Vault” in a second, but first things first: Chipotle has $0 delivery on April 2nd if you use the code “DELIVER” for orders over $10.

Now, Chipotle is also bringing back their “Burrito Vault” this year, which is basically an online game where fans try to guess a specific burrito order using a series of clues. (I just know Ron Swanson would love this.) Here’s what you need to do:

  • Go to this website and guess the correct burrito combination to unlock the Burrito Vault. (The burrito combo changes every hour.)
  • The first person to unlock the Burrito Vault each hour will get a YEAR’S WORTH of free burritos.
  • Then the next 3,600 people to unlock the vault get a BOGO entree reward.

Chipotle also added a new deal to the vault this year: a “Double Protein Hour” that happens once randomly each day. If you play while it’s happening, the number of prizes and protein are doubled. The first two players to unlock the vault will win free double protein burritos for a year. The next 7,200 winners will win a double protein burrito BOGO.

I just tried the game for myself only ten minutes into the hour. It took about five minutes to get the combo right, but I still didn’t win a prize in time. Moral of the story: Be fast. Play as soon as the new hour hits. And try to go for the double, because that gives you a better chance of winning. Good luck!

QDOBA

Qdoba rewards members can earn a free burrito or bowl… when buying an entree and drink on the 2nd. I’m just rolling my eyes a *tiny* bit, because it feels like they shouldn’t require us to buy a whole meal to earn a free burrito on National Burrito Day, but hey, maybe I’m just greedy.

Moe’s Southwest Grill

Thank you, Moe’s, for offering a true burrito BOGO: Buy one burrito or bowl (or value meal), get one burrito or bowl (or value meal) free. No drink required for purchase. Sorry, I know I’m being a BOGO stickler here, but this is a very important holiday and it deserves to be celebrated correctly. You do need a Moe’s Rewards account to get these deals on the 2nd, so make sure to sign up if you haven’t already.

El Pollo Loco

El Pollo Loco is offering another true BOGO: à la carte burritos are buy one, get one free for all rewards members on April 2nd. That’s what I’m talkin’ about.

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

If you’re a Baja Fresh rewards member and you buy something on the 2nd, you’ll get a $5 off $20 offer in your account for future use. Plus, they’re offering $5 Baja Burritos with chicken in stores all day. If this deal wasn’t specific to chicken burritos, I would say it’s even better than a BOGO, since you can buy two for $10, which is less than the full price of one (~$12 at my local Baja Fresh). But other restaurants aren’t limiting you to the type of burrito you can buy, so… there’s that.

Bubbakoo’s Burritos

It’s BOGO burritos for Bubbakoo’s rewards members! Use the promo code BURRITODAY, and you can get this offer from April 1 – 2. This is the only National Burrito Day deal I’m seeing that extends to two days, which is pretty cool. Nice one, Bubbakoo.

Tocaya

WIth any burrito order on April 2, you get a free half order of chips and guac. Hey, it’s not nothing!
Anyways, I hope your fridge is absolutely packed with leftover burritos come Friday. Good luck on your burrito haul. (And if you’re wondering where the Taco Bell burrito deal is… I’ve scoured the internet and their socials, even downloaded the app to see if anything popped up, but there’s no official announcement yet. There probably will be a promotion, but we might not see it until the day before. So don’t give up hope yet!)
