Like a lot of food writers, I’ve written about a lot of cocktails. To be honest, though, I’d never heard of a Transfusion cocktail before. And maybe that’s because it’s a popular golf course refreshment and my golfing days are (I hope) more than a few years ahead of me.

Turns out a Transfusion is actually refreshingly simple (hence the golf course vibe): a tall drink served on the rocks with vodka, ginger ale, (ideally) Concord grape juice, and lime. And while yes, now we all know the recipe and that means we can all go make it, there’s something even more fun in the works: behemoth energy drink maker C4 is teasing the possibility of creating a Transfusion cocktail-inspired flavor.
All they need? Some vociferous fan feedback.
Cocktail-Inspired Energy Drink? Yes, Please
Even if you’re not a cocktail drinker, if you care at all about energy drink flavors (we should say “good” and “refreshing” energy drink flavors), you should pay attention, because there’s a chance that grapey, citrusy, refreshing golf-glugger of a cocktail could be coming to a C4 energy drink can near you.
It’s not 100% guaranteed yet―our intel was murky, thanks to the fleeting nature of Instagram stories. But if this is a thing, we have high hopes, and not just because we’ve tasted some successful cocktail-inspired energy drinks recently. C4 is a megalith in the performance energy drinks world and they tend to take their flavors seriously and enjoy experimenting and interacting with their fan base.
Sounds Delicious, But Still Just a Tease…
We don’t have much to go on right now. All we know is that C4 revealed a Transfusion cocktail-inspired energy drink on the IG stories earlier this week. So far as we can tell, there are zero functional retail plans at the time, but the brand put up a poll and said strong fan response could move the flavor up on the priority list for release (light up their IG, friends).
And it does sound like a great flavor to vote for. Not only is Concord grape a perfect flavor for early fall, but it’d be nice to have a non-alcoholic version of a refreshingly acidic drink that still has that royal purple roundness of Concord grape. It might even help us improve our golf game (remember, C4 is all about “performance energy.”) And, of course, we’d be happy to have C4 at the helm, since they’re one of the most prolific flavor-creators out there (believe us, we’ve tasted at least 28 of them). So if we do end up with a Transfusion C4, we have to assume it’ll be a hole-in-one (or some other positive golf term that’s less contrived).
