Okay, okay before you tear me apart in the comments, I know these Caulipower Pizza Bites are not new in the temporal sense of the word. They came out in 2023. But somehow they slipped under our radar. And gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza rolls just seemed too intriguing to keep on hold in our freezer until we decided to create a full frozen pizza rolls ranking.
We wanted to taste these new (to us) gluten free pizza rolls ASAP. So, we did. Because that’s what you can do when you’re a grown adult with a toaster oven. (Jealous, kids?) So, for all you gluten-sensitive or celiac pizza roll craving readers out there, here’s our review of the Caulipower Pizza Bites in both four cheese and pepperoni.
Pros: The sauce in these gluten free pizza rolls is quality sauce. While the ketchup-adjacent sauce you’ll find in a Totino’s pizza roll certainly has its place, the stuff Caulipower uses actually tastes like real marinara sauce—seasoned with just enough oregano. And the crust doesn’t taste too much like cauliflower. Even when you do get a little hint of vegetable, it actually blends nicely with the flavors of the filling. You’re not constantly distracted by the fact that you’re eating gluten-free cauliflower pizza crust.
Cons: Neither the cheese nor the pepperoni bites really took on any color in our toaster oven. They came out looking quite pale and didn’t have a ton of crunch. I followed the directions when cooking these. Next time, I’ll go rogue and pop them in the air fryer for as long as it takes to get them crispy and golden. And while I loved the flavor of the filling in these bites, there wasn’t a ton of actual gooey cheese.
Conclusion: These gluten-free pizza rolls are totally satisfying and don’t taste gluten-free. You’ll totally be happy with these as a late night or afternoon snack.
Pros: These pizza rolls are seriously peppery. Personally, I love black pepper and I will grind it onto anything I see. So, for me, that’s a big plus. The sauce remains good. And the little bits of pepperoni in the mix add some good texture.
Cons: If you can’t handle a lot of black pepper, you won’t be into these. There’s so much of a peppery flavor that these are downright spicy. And, while the chunks of pepperoni did add good texture, they didn’t add a ton of flavor. I could have used more actual meatiness.
Conclusion: The Pepperoni Caulipower Pizza Bites aren’t as successful and the Four Cheese Pizza Bites. But I still wouldn’t turn them down at midnight—especially paired with some ranch to cut the peppery flavor.
Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients.
Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it.
What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now).
Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test!
Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
