Blow up those balloons and blow OUT those candles, because Checkers & Rally’s is turning 40! Well, if we’re being really pedantic about it, it’s turning 27: The two brand names came together as one in 1999, 13 years after Checkers was first born in Mobile, Alabama. But we’re not going to be pedantic about it. The big 4-0 is here (for a fast-food franchise that sort of feels a little older than that, to be honest, what with its retro vibe and menu), and it’s bringing out a new menu to celebrate.

And it’s promising a lot of flavor – or, we should say, flava. Let’s dive in.

Checkers & Rally’s Flava Versary

Yesterday, Checkers & Rally’s announced how it would be honoring its 40th year, and it’s doing so with what it’s calling its “Flava Versary.” What that primarily means for customers is that they’re getting a couple of new menu items, which are bursting with – you guessed it – flava, and which prominently season the chain’s Famous Seasoned Fries. The new menu looks like this:

  • Flava Max Double Burger: A double cheeseburger topped with Famous Seasoned Fries, dill pickles, and your choice of sauce (you can choose from Frank’s RedHot Stingin’ Honey Garlic, Creamy Garlic Parmesan or Checkers & Rally’s new Smokin’ Chipotle Mayo.
  • Flava Max Chicken Bites & Fries Box: Crispy Chicken Bites tossed in your choice of sauce (again, you can pick from the above), piled onto a bed of Famous Seasoned Fries.

Both orders start at $3.49, and they’re available now. We’re not sure how long they’ll be sticking around for, but there are pretty clearly limited-time deals, so don’t sleep on them if you’re keen to try them.

Turning Up The Volume On All That Flava

Alongside its new menu items, Checkers & Rally’s is also celebrating its big birthday bash with a collaboration with rapper Yung Gravy, who has put his own spin on a classic ‘80s anthem as part of a promotional campaign for the brand. The anthem in question is “Danger Zone,” by Kenny Loggins…which Yung Gravy and Checkers & Rally’s have changed into…”Fryway to the Flava Zone.” Not missing a beat there, are they? The new song, and the ad that goes with it, can be seen here, in all its ‘80s glory.

Gotta say, while these new menu items aren’t reinventing the wheel, they do sound pretty good, especially for the price (Checkers & Rally’s has been coming through on that front in 2026, too, with affordable new meal deals and sandwiches). Now, excuse me while I grab my shoulder-padded jacket and beam myself back 40 years.
