Love it or hate it, Coca-Cola Orange Cream is headed off to that big fridge in the sky. This variant of Earth’s favorite cola has been a constant presence over the last year, but nothing lasts forever. This isn’t all bad news, though; Coca-Cola Orange Cream is going away to make room for a brand new fruity-creamy Coke variant. That said, let’s take a moment to acknowledge what we’re losing.
Why is Coca-Cola Orange Cream being discontinued?
While Coca-Cola could physically produce more variants than we’d be able to count, efficiently promoting and selling those variants is tricky. Retailer shelf space is limited and valuable; drinks basically have to over perform to guarantee their continued existence.
That said, this can’t come as too big a surprise; Coca-Cola actually warned us this drink was temporary when they announced it back in February 2025. The original announcement stated the drink would be available through “early 2026.” Since the drink replacing Orange Cream on shelves was announced last week, I’d say that was a pretty accurate estimation of availability.
Isn’t a year pretty long for a limited-time flavor?
That initial announcement further stated that Coca-Cola Orange Cream would only stick around for a year to “continually refresh the Coca‑Cola Trademark flavor portfolio based on evolving consumer preferences.” In other words, Coke wants to make sure you don’t get bored with plain old Classic and Cherry—it’s time to innovate!
That said, the announcement of the new Cherry Cream variants does not specify any timeframe. My best guess is that Coke is hoping Cherry Cream performs well enough over the next year to earn a permanent spot in the lineup, at which point they can pretend it was the plan the whole time. In other words, they’d like this to be the opposite of Coca-Cola Spiced.
Is there any other way to get Coca-Cola Orange Cream?
There’s definitely one way to get something close to Coca-Cola Orange Cream, and it’s actually been an option since before the soda was bottled last year: Coca-Cola Freestyle. While the official “Coca-Cola Orange Cream” Freestyle mix was exclusive to Wendy’s stores for the last year, you can definitely mix Orange and Vanilla Cokes together in any functioning Freestyle fountain.
