Everyone talks a lot about Costco’s deals. We talk a lot about Costco’s deals: Whether they’re for game day or for Easter, we’re never far off discussing our favorite affordable finds at the store. But, we’ll be the first to admit that sometimes we don’t talk about the elephant in the room, which is, of course, the price of your Costco membership. Costco’s got good prices for a lot of things, but you have to pay to buy them in the first place – and it does kinda negate some of the savings that you make.

SO, when those (relatively rare) moments come along that essentially allow you to get a Costco membership at a big discount… run, don’t walk, people. That’s exactly what’s happening right now, thanks to Groupon. Here’s the lowdown.
Pay $65, Get $45 Back
This Groupon deal, which dropped this week, doesn’t drop the standard price of a Costco membership. But, what it does do is give you a $45 Costco Digital Shop Card when you join through its platform. Until May 10, 2026, if you sign up through Groupon, you’ll receive this gift card to spend in-store on its items, within two weeks of joining.
A standard Costco Gold Star Membership currently costs $65, but with the cash you get from the Shop Card, you’re basically spending $20 for your first year. Naturally, if you decide to carry on being a member beyond that, you won’t get any further savings (well, unless there’s a further gift card up Costco’s or Groupon’s sleeves that we don’t know about, which seems unlikely). You can also choose to opt for an Executive Membership through the Groupon deal, which costs $130.
Terms And Conditions
If there’s one thing an offer loves, it’s terms and conditions – and you better believe that there are some here! According to the Groupon website, this offer is only valid for new members and those who have not been a Costco member in any shape or form in the last 18 months. It’s also worth noting that you can’t redeem this gift card at the food court for all of its menu items, nor can you swap it for cold, hard cash. You can only buy one membership per person (although we’re not sure why you’d want more than that), and there are no refunds. You also can’t pair other promo codes or discounts with this offer.
To be honest, though, that’s pretty standard stuff – and if you’ve been holding out on joining Costco because it costs too much, this might be your moment to strike. A couple of months back, we reported on the fact that Costco is, on average, the cheapest grocery store in America, but that wasn’t considering this membership offer. With this in mind, it’ll almost definitely save you some cash.
