We loooove when Costco gets classy. And honestly, it does this more than we probably give it credit for. Costco likes to pepper its product range quite liberally with finds like limited-edition Monopoly wine sets and huge artisanal wheels of cheese, which, while not wholly practical for everyone to buy or use, definitely give it a touch of je ne sais quoi.

Now, it’s given its bakery section a touch of élan (I’m really in the mood to throw in some French words today, huh? You’ll see why – but apologies if any native French speakers are reading this and I’m utterly butchering things here). It’s just reintroduced a product that has regular shoppers very pleased. Mon dieu!

Cute As A Button

The product in question is… the humble madeleine! Or, rather, a big box of them. Our favorite Costco sleuth, @costcohotfinds, revealed that the store is now stocking the French favorite in its bakery section, where you can find a 12-count for $9.99 (though prices may vary by location). Costco’s madeleines are definitely on the bigger side, and they have a delightful plumpness to them. They’re uncoated, but as the commentary states on @costcohotfinds’ video, they’re begging to be dipped in dark chocolate.

It’s the second dessert this week that’s caught our eye at Costco. Is a madeleine a dessert? It is according to Christopher Kimball, so we’re running with that. Anyway, I digress! This madeleine drop follows hot on the heels of Costco stocking the viral 3D desserts. The store’s really spoiling us right now.

Just Tell Me If They’re Good Or Not…

Well, according to customers, they are indeed. Costco’s madeleines, which one commenter pointed out in @costcohotfinds’ post are a seasonal drop, are apparently worth the money. “These are buttery amazing,” raved one customer, while another said, “I’ve been snacking on these and considering hiding them.” We don’t blame you. A good madeleine is to be treasured. Protected. Gatekept, almost.

I jest. I’m not gatekeeping these! If I were, I wouldn’t be sitting here typing up this very article. Costco’s madeleines are available now, but given their seasonal nature, they’re probably not going to be around for too long before they disappear once more. If you do miss out on them, Costco does sell prepackaged madeleines elsewhere in the store, but those are a little smaller than these. And let’s be real, we all want the big ones.
