How much do you like Parmesan cheese? Enough to buy a big wedge of it? Probably. Enough to buy a wheel of it? Maybe. Enough to buy a wheel of it that weighs eighty-five pounds? Okay, maybe you’re starting to draw the line.

If you’re not, though, and if you want to embark on your own “Man v. Food”-style escapade by trying to slam 0.0425 tons of cheese in one go, then you’d better get yourself to your nearest Costco Business Center. As reported by the popular Instagram account @instoreclearance, these Costcos are now stocking supersized Italian Parmigiano Reggiano wheels, and you can take one home for yourself. For a price.

Got a Spare $1,000?

As @instoreclearance showed, these enormous cheese wheels look pretty much exactly like the type you’d find sitting in the window of a classic deli, or the corner of an Italian restaurant. Each wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano has been aged for 13 months, and they come at a pretty high cost: They’re currently priced at $18.99 per kilogram, meaning that you’ll have to shell out nearly $1,000 for them. Essentially, you’ll have to really love cheese, or have designs on doing that thing that restaurants do, where they put your hot pasta in it to create a sauce. Yeah. We love that.

Even if you do want to do that, though, you might be a little disappointed by the results. As multiple comments in @instoreclearance’s post pointed out, this Parmesan is young. 12 months is the minimum maturation period for Parmigiano Reggiano, and, generally speaking, the higher-end wedges you find at the grocery store are aged for double that time. That’s not to say that there’s good Parm out there that’s a bit younger (some of our favorite Parmesan cheeses are, in fact), but if you’re expecting 85 pounds of blow-your-mind flavor, you might wanna look elsewhere.

It’s definitely true that this cheese will be good for the gains, though. As one commenter said, “That’s 12,705 grams of protein.” Sick of protein chips? Here’s your expensive solution.

Supersize Everything

This wheel of cheese isn’t the only find that’s been catching our eye at Costco recently. The retailer has also taken to selling a 55-gallon barrel of maple syrup lately (is it weird that we think combining this cheese and that syrup would make for something really delicious? Oh, it is? We’ll just crawl back into our hole now). It’s also just started stocking, of all people, Snoop Dogg’s new snack brand. The retail world is weird.
