Doritos’ Next 2027 Flavor Is Long Overdue

Lemon pepper wings fans, it’s time to get excited! Doritos is taking one of the most popular wing flavors and giving it the crunchy chip treatment. Yep, Doritos Lemon Pepper is coming and honestly, it’s about time! Why did it take this long for someone to put lemon pepper seasoning on a Dorito?

The new Lemon Pepper Doritos flavor was officially announced by PepsiCo on October 15, 2026, and it’s expected to arrive at stores nationwide in early 2027. 

People Have Already Tried The New Doritos Flavor

Doritos Lemon Pepper made an early appearance at the 2026 National Association of Convenience Stores Show, giving retail partners and other attendees a chance to try the new flavor before its nationwide release. And the early reviews have been encouraging.

Allrecipes’ Amanda Favazza and Heather Oldenborg sampled the chips at the event. Favazza enjoyed the noticeable citrus flavor, while Oldenborg liked the balance of lemon and spice so much that she said she’d switch from her usual Salsa Verde Doritos to the new flavor once it became available. She even tried looking for the chips at Walmart before the official launch.

Fans online have also been getting excited about the announcement. One Reddit discussion about the upcoming flavor attracted hundreds of votes, and the comments showed that people were ready to give it a shot. Some fans were immediately sold on the idea, while others had a particular request: They wanted the chips to taste like actual lemon pepper wings rather than simply lemon and pepper seasoning.

Doritos Has Done Wing Flavors Before, But This One Feels Different

Doritos and wing-inspired flavors already have a little history together. The brand has previously offered options such as Blazin’ Buffalo & Ranch and Ultimate Garlic Parm, so lemon pepper isn’t exactly coming out of nowhere.

That said, lemon pepper brings something different to the party. Buffalo flavors are more about the heat, while garlic parmesan offers a rich, savory taste. Lemon pepper has that bright citrus flavor to go with its peppery kick, giving Doritos another way to shake up its lineup.

I think the idea of a chip that tastes like lemon pepper wings sounds much more interesting than another variation on cheese. The seasoning already works on chicken, seafood, fries, and other savory foods. Why shouldn’t it work on a crunchy tortilla chip?

Around For A Limited Time

Despite all the excitement, Doritos Lemon Pepper won’t be sticking around permanently, at least not according to the current announcement. PepsiCo says the chips will arrive nationwide in early 2027 for a limited time. An exact launch date and specific retail prices have not been confirmed in the official announcement.

There’s also the question of whether Doritos will bring the chips back if they sell well. For now though, the company hasn’t promised a permanent release or a return date, so there’s no guarantee that fans will get another chance once the initial run ends.
