Like any other fast food chain, Jersey Mike’s keeps things moving. Sometimes, that’s by responding to its customers by quietly making viral items easier to order; sometimes, that’s by giving out free subs to people who bear its name; sometimes, that’s by making alleged changes to its subs that leave its diners unsatisfied (its subs have apparently gotten smaller, don’t cha know). Call this restaurant a lot of things, but static isn’t one of them.

Now, it’s changing up its drinks offer, too – and it’s bringing back a fan fave. (Alleged) Jersey Mike’s insiders over at Reddit have revealed that Dr Pepper is coming back to its stores, but at the expense of poor old Pepsi Wild Cherry, which is getting the chop. Here’s what we know.
Cherry Pepsi’s Out, Dr Pepper’s Back in the Building
News of this change came via several Reddit posts, one of which included an image of information that looks as though it was sent out to franchisees. In the screenshot of the information, it can clearly be seen that Dr Pepper will be delivered to restaurants the week beginning May 18, and we can therefore expect that it’ll be available to customers starting pretty soon after that. May 18 is also the date that Jersey Mike’s and Dr Pepper’s partnership begins once again.
As for Pepsi Wild Cherry…well, it’s getting the chop. The information also clearly states that Dr Pepper will replace the cherry Pepsi on its fountains. If your local store has Stubborn Agave Vanilla instead of Pepsi Wild Cherry, well, we’re sorry to tell you that’s the one that’s going to be replaced instead. Well, we’re sorry unless you don’t like Stubborn Agave Vanilla, in which case this news might be very welcome.
And The Response to This Move?
Well…we’d say it’s mixed. People are fairly split on whether they prefer Pepsi Wild Cherry or Dr Pepper, and in the Reddit comment section, that’s fairly evident. We guess you can’t please them all, folk – although one person made a suggestion that might just cut into the middle ground. “I need them to bring Cherry Pepsi back too,” they said. Best of both worlds, right?
Some people, though, express wider dismay at the sodas that are on selection at Jersey Mike’s, and said that they just go there for the subs. Well, that makes sense. We wonder how its drinks will be affected now that it’s going public? Only time will tell, guys. Only time will tell.
