This past April Fools Day, we reported on a “fake” product that was not real but we wished was real: Dr Pepper Tic Tacs. Well you know how the old saying goes, Sporked writer Griffin Parker asks, and we shall receive. Yep, Dr Pepper Tic Tacs are coming.

Keurig Dr Pepper not only revealed that the Dr. Pepper flavored Tic Tacs were, in fact, real and getting a release this fall, but they also brought samples of them to the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Indianapolis this year. And I was fortunate enough to procure some samples. While they aren’t dropping until next year, we’re diving into these fizzy-flavored Tic Tacs now to see if they’re worth adding to your snack hunt list along with my other top picks from this year’s expo.

New Tic Tac Flavor Preview!

Dr Pepper Tic Tacs Review

Pros: Similar to the Sprite flavored Tic Tacs that Sporked’s Gwynedd Stuart tried, the Dr Pepper Tic Tacs start off sweet, then you get this really nice fizziness (like the Sprite Tic Tacs, these also feature sodium bicarbonate in the ingredients list), and they finish with a tang. What separates these from the Sprite flavored Tic Tacs, however, is these have a really authentic, unmistakable Dr Pepper flavor. If you’re a Dr Pepper fan I think you’ll find yourself going through these quickly—I had no problem finishing two little sample packs (each containing four Dr Pepper Tic Tacs) whilst writing this, and I’d definitely reach for more if given the opportunity!

Cons: They’re not super fizzy, which definitely detracts from the soda aspect of the flavor (especially if you suck on the Tic Tacs rather than bite them). At some points it is almost like experiencing a Dr Pepper that is starting to go flat. I’d love to see these get just a little bit more sodium bicarbonate to really imitate the fizzing soda pop effect. I really think an adjustment like that could really set these over the top.
