I love Entenmann’s chocolate doughnuts (or donuts, depending on your vibe for the day). I love the crackly chocolate coating. I love how its texture is somewhere between fudge and wax. I love the crumbly cake doughnut inside. It’s a perfect grocery store treat that has nothing to do with the doughnuts you buy from a doughnut shop. So, when I saw the news about Entenmann’s ice cream sandwiches—some of which were inspired by their doughnuts—I got excited. I had visions of full-sized doughnuts sliced hamburger style with a scoop of ice cream in the middle. So, I tracked down two types—Chocolate and Salted Caramel—from Walmart (they’re only available at Walmart), and gave them a taste. How well did an Entenmann’s ice cream sandwich live up to my hopes and dreams? Let’s get into it.
