We’ve talked about it long enough. Fanta Chucky’s Punch is finally on shelves. The nice people over at Fanta sent over a can for me to review (alongside the entire relabeled lineup), so I’m cracking into it today to see if it quells the dark passenger inside. That candy-flavored soda from the other guys is child’s play—let’s try a soda with some edge.
- Fanta Chucky’s Punch Review
-
Pros: To quote the doll on the label, this Fanta and I will be friends ‘til the end. While the generic “Punch Flavored Soda” callout on the label felt aggressively vague, it definitely has a solid lightly-sour berry punch flavor. Maybe they took inspiration from the movies being unable to decide whether they were comedies or horrors—hence, a not-quite-sour not-quite-sweet soda! This addition to the Fanta lineup would make Charles Lee Ray proud. (Is that a good thing? He is a murderer after all.)
Cons: I would have liked to see a little more sour in this soda. Halloween is the only appropriate time to launch a candy-esque sour soda, and this just feels like a missed opportunity. Limited edition sodas are like slasher movies: They may not be for everyone, but if you do it right, the diehard audience will eat it up.

Where can I pick up Chucky’s Punch for myself?
Everywhere. Seriously, for a Fanta spinoff, this has some very good distribution. I didn’t see a single checkout lane Coke fridge at Walmart that wasn’t stocked with a few bottles of this new Fanta flavor—not to mention the 12-packs clogging their own island outside the soda aisle. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding this soda. Appropriately for the theme, this soda is going to find you.
Is it a little weird that Coca-Cola gave a slasher villain his own soda?
I mean, Anakin Skywalker was slapped onto every Coca-Cola bottle for a few months and he killed an entire classroom of kids in Revenge of the Sith. Bizarrely, Chucky may be our most forward-thinking pop culture murderer. In a recent TV series, he even referenced his child from an earlier film as being genderfluid and said having a problem with that would be monstrous. Don Mancini, the openly gay creator of the whole Chucky universe to-date, has incorporated LGBTQ+ themes into the franchise since day one; score one for representation.
