Have you ever hurt your jaw chewing too much bubblegum at once? If so, GHOST Energy has a solution. One of the newest launches from this fan-favorite energy drink brands is an authentic collaboration with Bubblicious Bubblegum. GHOST was nice enough to send a case over to your favorite food-flavored drink reviewer. Let’s find out how this drink competes in a crowded category of candy(?)-flavored cans of caffeine.

This looks familiar. Is this actually new?

Back in 2022, GHOST Energy released their first-ever energy drink in partnership with Bubblicious. The flavor? Strawberry Splash. That all-pink can was based specifically on the strawberry variant of  Perfetti Van Melle‘s iconic bubblegum. The following year saw the debut of Bubblicious Cotton Candy GHOST Energy, my personal favorite GHOST flavor to-date (despite my long-standing beef with cotton candy). Today’s review is covering the brand-new GHOST Energy drink based on the original Bubblicious bubblegum. This drink isn’t based on strawberry bubblegum or cotton candy bubblegum like GHOST’s previous collaborative energy drinks–this is just straight original bubblegum.

New GHOST Energy!

Pros: This energy drink delivers pure nostalgic flavor with the force of a thousand ballistas. Even before the caffeine hits, the strength of the inherently-artificial bubblegum flavor will wake you up at first sip. This is a feat in beverage flavor science worth tasting if only for the experience.

Cons: Accuracy isn’t everything. While this is without a doubt the most accurate bubblegum anything ever made, I’m not sure it really needed to be an energy drink. This is overwhelmingly strong, to the point that I’ve had people get tired of the aroma wafting out of an open can I’ve been sipping on. As someone who loved GHOST’s previous Strawberry and Cotton Candy Bubblicious energy drinks, I’m not sure we needed to extend the concept this far.

(That being said, I’ll sell a kidney for GHOST to tackle Bubblicious Watermelon. Sure, it might cut into their WarHeads Sour Watermelon sales, but I’m honestly surprised that drink is still being sold considering how focused the brand is on their growing Sour Strips collaboration.)

What’s coming next from GHOST Energy?

There’s two upcoming GHOST Energy releases that have my attention: A&W Root Beer and Sour Strips AppleBerry. We’ve known the former was likely since late last year, but the latter came out of nowhere just a few weeks ago. Considering how quickly the original Rainbow Sour Strips GHOST Energy captured the attention of the heartbroken sour candy-flavored GHOST Energy fans, I’m looking forward to trying this fruitier take on the idea.
