Are the New Goldfish Crisps a Swimming Success or a Fishy Failure?

Goldfish Crisps are the newest Goldfish cracker on the market. These new “crisps” are the love child of a cracker and a potato chip in the classic fish shape we know and love.

They come in three flavors: salt & vinegar, sour cream & onion, and cheddar. We tried all three to find out if these new Goldfish Crisps are worth adding to your weekly snack rotation. Goldfish are almost perfect, so we’re skeptical, but let’s see!

Goldfish Crisps Salt & Vinegar

Salt and vinegar is such a delicious flavor combination. The Goldfish Crisps’ take on this iconic taste profile is good, but not great.

Pros: As the packaging promises, these are “light & airy.” I love that they are hollow and burst when you bite them. The flavor is light, too, so you’re mostly getting texture.

Cons: The flavor vanishes from your mouth moments after you eat these. I want salt and vinegar to linger. I want it to make me reach for a glass of water. I want it to burn any cuts I have in my mouth. I want a punch of flavor! These just don’t do that.

Goldfish Crisps Sour Cream & Onion

Sour cream and onion is so good and that rings true when it comes to these Goldfish Crisps. I really liked them. They taste very, very good. If you like an extremely light and crispy snack that still packs in the flavor, try these!

Pros: These have so much flavor. They’re the opposite of the salt and vinegar flavor. I wanted to lick the flavoring off of these crisps.

Cons: While I don’t have any big cons, these won’t blow any minds. They’re good, but standard. I would definitely eat them if they were there, but I wouldn’t rush out to buy them.

NEW PRODUCT

Goldfish Crisps Cheddar

This was the winner of the three Goldfish Crisps flavors. If you only try one flavor, buy these! I would buy them again.

Pros: These are so wonderfully cheesy. Imagining these sprinkled over tomato soup makes me excited. I would also happily snack on handfuls of these while I watched a movie or while driving on a road trip.

Cons: I wouldn’t necessarily call this a con, but I will acknowledge that many people won’t consider them as good as classic Goldfish. They’re different! And that’s okay!

  • I have tried the sour cream and onion, and they are absolutely awesome. I am hoping that the company will keep making these, as they are very good. I will certainly buy them again and again.

  • I have loved original goldfish since I was very young (I’m 67 now). First cheddar, then parmesan as an adult.

I saw these while grocery shopping and bought 1 bag of Goldfish cheddar crisps to try. Will NOT buy again. No cheddar taste at all. Onion and garlic powder seasoning overpowered anything else. Not fond of them being hollow either. Just kind of “evaporate” as you eat them, leaving onion & garlic powder in their wake. No substance to them like original crackers have. I have to give these a “No – do not recommend”. Sorry…. Will stick with my Parmesan Original Goldfish crackers.

  • They weren’t what I expected. Tbh I thought they were going to be big goldfish shaped potato crisps but they were about the same size as regular goldfish. Not a big deal but my imagination got away from me.
