I have pitched some interesting articles in my time here at Sporked, but “Green Day has their own Slurpee flavor” has got to be in the top ten. As much as this seems like it came out of nowhere, the backstory to this collaboration actually makes a lot of sense: Green Day started their own fair trade coffee company, Punk Bunny Coffee, back in 2024. A few months later, Punk Bunny announced a partnership with 7-Eleven that would bring freshly-brewed Punk Bunny Coffee (plus ground coffee bags and K-cups) to all 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations. All these factors bring us to May 2025: 7-Eleven announces the Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee by Punk Bunny.
Why did Green Day make a cotton candy grape flavored Slurpee?
Per the press release that announced this new Slurpee flavor, Green Day has cotton candy grapes on their tour rider, making this a more fitting celebrity-endorsed flavor than most. As for the full name of this product, I am perplexed. That same press release states this flavor is “an ode to the band’s 1992 album Kerplunk!” I’m not sure how the album that brought us “Welcome to Paradise” and “Dominated Love Slave” gives off cotton candy grape vibes, but I’ll trust the experts this time around.
Here’s what Green Day’s new Slurpee flavor tastes like.
What’s next for Slurpee?
Funny enough, I found two more shreds of Slurpee news at the very same Speedway where I found this new Slurpee to review! First, 7-Eleven has partnered with Peace Tea on a Slurpee based on their Caddyshack Lemon-Flavored Tea drink. (I think “Tea Flavored” is one of our most worrying 2025 buzzwords.) Let me know in the comments if you want to see a review here on Sporked.
And then, laying on the counter for all to see, was a slab of promotional materials for a to-be-announced Jurassic World collaboration. Since I was raised not to open things that don’t belong to me, I couldn’t determine whether there’d be an entire new flavor in addition to promotional labels on existing flavors; the only flavor card I could see was for a “Mission: Deep Blue” blue raspberry.
