Guy Fieri is a man who knows his fast food. If you have any doubt about that whatsoever, just put on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives—you’ll have hundreds to choose from, so take your pick—and listen to the way that he talks about the burgers, fries, and sandwiches that he eats on the show. This is a guy who has eaten thousands upon thousands of fried, salty dishes, and he’s always ready to share his opinions with an equally hungry audience as he drives them to Flavortown, perhaps while they’re eating one of his Flavortown frozen meals.
So, when someone like Fieri names a fast food restaurant as his very favorite, it’s safe to say that you should trust that it’s gonna be pretty good. And when none other than Gordon Ramsay also says that it’s the bomb, then you’d be a fool to doubt both of them. The fast food joint in question? It’s none other than In-N-Out, folks.
Fieri Prefers In-N-Out to Another Famous Burger Chain
Mr. Fieri professed that he rolls his classic car up to In-N-Out’s drive-thru on the regular in an interview with First We Feast back in 2016, during which he also mentioned that he’d order it over perhaps its biggest competitor: Shake Shack. “I love Danny Meyer, but In-N-Out,” he said in response to a question about which fast food restaurant he’d choose. “Danny’s the machine, Shake Shack’s phenomenal, but there’s something about growing up around In-N-Out.”
Given the upbringing he mentioned, it definitely makes sense that Fieri would drift towards In-N-Out. Fieri was born in Ohio, but grew up in California, the home state of the famous burger chain. We’re sure he ordered a fair few Double Doubles during his youth (and showed off his frosted tips to the employees in the process). Who knows, maybe he likes to drizzle his Flavortown sauces on top.
Gordon Ramsay Is Also a Big Fan Of In-N-Out
Fieri is not the only TV chef who loves In-N-Out. In-N-Out is Gordon Ramsay’s favorite fast food restaurant, as well, and the Double-Double, Animal Style, is his go-to order.
Ramsay even explained in an episode of Last Meals that his own patties at his first burger store in Las Vegas were based on In-N-Out’s Animal Style technique, wherein the burgers are basted with mustard. The chef instead opted to use Devonshire butter on his burgers, setting them apart while setting tastebuds alight. Based on the wild success of his career in the United States from that point on, his trick seemed to work.
