Heinz Just Released 2 New Simply Ketchup Flavors (And They’re Funky)

For most of us, I don’t think ketchup is something we usually give much of a second thought to. You either like it or you don’t, and there’s nothing much else to it, right? Well, after Heinz’s release of their Simply Ketchup that strips back ingredients to only the most essential and recognizable ones, we really thought that the ingenuity was kind of over. It never seems like any unique flavors ever really go anywhere with ketchup. So we can’t say we expected to see any new flavors coming from Heinz anytime soon.

Little did we know, Heinz was cooking up new and interesting products to add to their Simply Ketchup collection. And now we’re finally gonna see two new flavors hit stores nationwide. We’ll just say this: these flavors are definitely were not ones that we would’ve expected.

Heinz Is Giving The People What They Want

For starters, I think the more basic of the two new flavors, but perhaps the more predictable one, is the Simply Spicy Ketchup. It’s basically made it exactly the same way as their a Simply Ketchup with tomatoes and signature spices. But for this flavor they’ve added jalapeño into that mix as well. Considering the rise of sweet and spicy flavors as a food combination over the past few years, this segue into more unique ketchup flavors certainly makes sense.

At the end of the day, ketchup is something so familiar that even to us that it was a surprise they would go so far as to add two completely new flavors to the Heinz lineup. But Heinz’s goal with these new flavors was to appeal and reach out to younger and more adventurous eaters. And you definitely have to be an adventurous eater to try out this next flavor. At least, you must be a lover of pickles.

This second flavor being added to the simply collection is called Simply Pickle. Added to the traditional Heinz Simply Ketchup ingredients are briny, vinegar-y pickle flavors, so we can imagine that it would taste something like a crossover between their Simply Ketchup and dill relish.

Given that it’s part of their Simply collection, I think we can put our worries to bed about it being a super artificial flavor for the pickle component since that goes against everything with this collection is about. Additionally, we have already seen a variation of this flavor available in their tradition lineup of ketchup. So if that spoke to you, and you’ve been waiting for a more natural option to come about then it’s your time to shine.

Both of these new flavors will be available in stores in 13.5 oz. bottles for only $3.99 each. So, even if you’re a little bit unsure of whether or not you’re going to love these new unique flavors, the financial investment isn’t as terrible as some of the other food launches that we see with heftier price tags. We know we’ll be trying them out at least, so you can stay tuned here for our official Sporked review.
