We Tried the New Hot Cocoa Lindt Truffles

Over the last year, I have tried over forty different Lindt Lindor truffles. I’m not saying I’m the preeminent chocolate truffle expert on the internet, but I’m certainly the loudest. Today, we’ve got our hands on the newest Lindt Lindor truffle hitting shelves now just in time for the holidays: Hot Cocoa. Let’s find out how this compares to Lindt’s existing holiday truffle lineup.

Hot Cocoa Lindt Lindor Truffle

Pros: The format of this truffle set me on edge. The milk-chocolate-covering-white-chocolate truffle (which has different names like Snowman or Ghost depending on the season) scored second-to-last in my Lindt Lindor truffle ranking. I was worried this would be a similarly-negative experience, but there’s definitely an additional flavor in this truffle that I’m a big fan of. It isn’t quite marshmallow, but it’s close enough that I’d be able to guess this truffle was hot cocoa flavored without knowing in advance. This is comfortably middle-of-the-pack for Lindt’s holiday truffle flavors.

Cons: Y’all, we have been bamboozled. Per the official description, this truffle’s “milk shell and white chocolate filling is enhanced by the subtle addition of vanilla.” What part of hot cocoa is vanilla flavored? That explains why this truffle tastes almost like marshmallow—vanilla and marshmallow are flavor cousins (in my brain, at least).

Where can I find Hot Cocoa Lindt Lindor Truffles for myself?

You’ll be able to find this wherever large seasonal quantities of Lindt Lindor truffles are sold. I’ve seen these on shelves at Target and Walmart; I first purchased these at Jungle Jim’s International Market, but not everyone is blessed to live near that theme park of a grocery store. If you think these will be your new favorite truffles, you can order them from Lindt’s website in quantities up to an 800-count crate. (The best place to buy Hot Cocoa Lindt Lindor truffles is definitely at one of their retail stores, where they can turn it or any other truffle into a milkshake for you.)
