I’ve been a rib guy all my life, McDonald’s McRib included. That being said, I truly could not tell you what the hell is going on with the McRib. When is it in season? No clue. Hasn’t it been “discontinued” ten times over? I thought so. Will McDonald’s be bringing it back then? It sure as hell seems so, because I swear to god I still saw it being advertised in the window at my local McDonald’s like a month ago. But the last time I saw the McRib in my McDonald’s app it said “not available.” So who the hell knows.

What I DO know is that we can find the McRib outside the constraints of McDonald’s capricious release schedule
Rib sandwich competitors everywhere are upping their game. You can now find those juicy slabs of franken-meat at other stores. McDonald’s is surely shaking in their boots at the news. And you know what? I don’t feel bad in the slightest! That’s what you get for jerking us around all these years.
I’ve kept you waiting long enough. Here’s how you can get a McRib that’s not actually a McRib but is actually available all year round.
The gas station: I’d say there’s a strong chance that you’ll find a “McRib” at the hot bar of any gas station that you walk into. Speedway’s BBQ rib hoagie and Kwik Trip’s BBQ rib sandwich are my favorites.
Dollar Tree: In the freezer at Dollar Tree, you’ll often find Fast Bites’ Boneless BBQ Pork Rib Sandwich. Though this isn’t quite as close as the gas station McRib, it still works in a pinch considering you can stash it away in the freezer for a late-night craving.
Just the Patty: On-Cor sells a pack of six frozen patties, barbecue sauce included. The obvious downside here is that you’ll have to provide your own buns. (But we can help with that.)
Sam’s Club: Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark makes a frozen BBQ rib sandwich that does come with the bun included. Ironically, the downside of this one is how chewy the bun gets in the microwave. I guess you can’t get it perfect every time.
