We already covered the news of Firehook Crackers and Grillo’s Pickles teaming up to release dill pickle crackers. Now of course, it’s time for us to try them out. I will admit that I am a pickle hater. There is still a ray of hope for these crackers though. I love dill pickle flavored things. Chips, pretzels, mayo―I love them all! Now all that’s left is to see how these crackers fare.

Our Verdict

Pros: Firehook does make our favorite charcuterie cracker so it’s no surprise that this version shares a lot of the same features we loved in the original. Inside the package, you’ll find long strips of sturdy crackers that can hold up to some hefty additions. Each bite delivers a skull-shaking crunch that only reinforces how strong they are.

The dill pickle flavoring on these crackers is thoroughly applied. There’s good coverage but you won’t be left with a ton of residue on your hands when you’re finished snacking. The first flavor that stands out is the dill. That’s backed up by bits of garlic powder and vinegar. Essentially, everything you’d want in a dill pickle cracker.

The biggest strength of these crackers is well…their strength. Picking these up for a summer BBQ would be a no-brainer. Add in a spreadable cheese and you’ve got the perfect snack to satiate your guests while they wait for the grill to work its magic. Now the real question we have to ask ourselves is how these would taste with a juicy pickle on top. I’ll let you try that one out!

Cons: On their own, these are a bit dry. The crunch of the cracker was nice but it was definitely telling of how little moisture there is to be found. You can certainly fix that with a gooey cheese or maybe a creamy labneh. Firehook calls these “irresistible on their own,” but you’d really be fighting to drink enough water to stay alive if you had more than a bite or two of just the cracker.

Dill can be a divisive herb. You either love it or the presence of too much in a dish can throw your entire week off. I am in the former camp but I really feel for those that can’t stand the stuff. With that, I will warn that the dill is a bit overpowering here. I was able to stomach it but dill skeptics will really want to proceed with caution.
