There are 149 days left until Christmas. One hundred. And forty-nine. Days. Left. Until Christmas. That’s almost half a year – and if you want some quick stats, it’s also roughly the gestation period of giant pandas, around how long it takes to interview, decide, and hire the CEO of a company, and 4.9 months. 149 days is a long time. 149 days is far enough away to be abstract.

And yet…and yet. It’s also, apparently, the length of time needed to firmly establish your Christmas-related products in the minds of consumers. We’ve just learned that International Delight is releasing a new Christmas coffee creamer – and it’s on its way to stores, right now.

International Delight White Chocolate Peppermint Bark Coffee Creamer

A few days ago, @candyhunting announced the news that International Delight was bringing out a White Chocolate Peppermint Bark Coffee Creamer this year – and that it’s headed to stores now, ahead of the holiday season. That’s saying something! We’re still in the middle of summer, and we haven’t yet seen the proper rollout of pumpkin spice products or Halloween candies, which tend to ramp up in the coming few weeks (International Delight has already dropped its Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer, just fyi) – but apparently, we’re cutting ahead.

Well hey, at least the flavor sounds good. You can expect this one to be minty, smooth, and creamy, and while there haven’t been many reviews yet – it’s just started to be rolled out – in @candyhunting’s comment section, @rockgirlmaxim84 revealed that she’d already tried it, and that it’s “super good.” She also said that she found it a few weeks ago; so how long has this thing been around? How early are we going here?!

Coffee Creamers: The Canary In The Coal Mine

The release of International Delight’s new coffee creamer confirms something to me that I’ve felt for a long time: That coffee creamers are often one of the first, if not the first, seasonal items released in recognition of an upcoming holiday. The influx of pumpkin spice creamers we saw around mid-June was testament to this, with those dropping weeks before any other fall- or PSL-inflected items did. Maybe it’s because coffee’s a comforting entry point into the magic of the holidays. Or maybe these manufacturers are just quick off the mark.

Who knows? Either way, you can get International Delight’s new flavor imminently, and the other Christmas foods have started to rear their heads, too. I did a quick check of Walmart’s website, and it’s already got several Hershey’s Christmas candies on sale, as well as a Great Value Holiday Christmas Tree Sugar Cookie Kit. Someone call Mariah Carey.
