Jones Sodas make me irrationally angry. Not because they are bad (they are, in fact, very good sodas, just check out our ranking of all the Jones flavors for proof), but because they discontinued my favorite flavor and perhaps the best soda of all time: Jones Fufu Berry Soda. I used to get it as a reward for going to the grocery store with my parents. All that time in the grocery store motivated by Jones Fufu Berry is how I ended up here, on this couch, writing articles about grocery stores. So in a way, I owe Jones my career. And in another more real way, they owe me Fufu Berry (I’m not joking, Jones. Please bring it back, I will be your best friend).
But I digress, we are not talking Fufu Berry today, we are talking about the new Jones Soda line-up: Jones x Crayola. Yep, Cayolas as in Crayola crayons. Specifically, we’re talking about retired Crayola crayon colors.
Will the new Jones x Crayola flavors taste like crayons?
As far as we can tell, these new Jones Sodas will not be colored wax-flavored. In fact, all of the flavors in this new Jones Soda pack already exist. So, how are they new? They have now been matched with previously retired Crayola colors and given new labels to make them look like crayons.
And the packaging is CUTE. The 12-pack not only looks like a box of Crayola crayons, it comes with an eight-pack of the formerly retired Crayola crayons and some coloring pages, along with six flavors of soda (two of each flavor) that correspond with six of the eight revived Crayola colors.
What flavors/colors are included?
We are getting Berry Lemonade (Blizzard Blue crayon), Pineapple Cream (Dandelion crayon), Green Apple (Magic Mint crayon), Grape (Violet Blue crayon), Strawberry Lime (Mulberry crayon), and Orange & Cream (Orange Red crayon). In addition to the above six crayon colors, the eight-pack of previously retired crayons includes Raw Umber and Lemon Yellow. And the best part yet? The labels on the bottles themselves look like crayon labels. I’m tellin’ ya, these bad boys are adorable.
When will the new Jones x Crayola sodas be available? And where?
These new Jones Sodas are going to hit in late July/early August, aka back-to-school time, according to the info page on the Jones website. This is a big deal and not just because the packaging looks like a giant crayon box. If you, like me, ever wanted to really taste the rainbow your own way (you wanted to eat crayons) this new Jones soda will be an excellent way to do so without ingesting literal wax. And who knows? If you haven’t tried this brand yet they may just turn out to be the soda you’ve been jonesing for.
