All 3 New Kellogg’s Glazed Donut Hole Cereals, Reviewed

We’ve got three new cereal-flavored cereals to review today. Finally, I can get the taste of Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, or Krave in the form of… cereal. What a time to be alive. All three flavors of the new Kellog’s Donut Hole Cereal are described as having “a crispy round shape with a shiny glaze that adds a sweet flavor to every bite.” Is it true? Is this cereal actually crispy and shiny? There’s only one way to find out: It’s time to pour myself three comically-small bowls of donut-inspired cereal.

Frosted Flakes Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

New Cereal!

Frosted Flakes Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

Pros: I’ll say it now: All three of these new cereals are good. This new cereal shape has a light, crispy texture that I enjoy regardless of flavor. This Frosted Flakes variant has the least interesting flavor of the trio but it’s still good. They nailed “vanilla,” so the other flavors should only get better from here.

Cons: Frosted Flakes is one of my favorite cereals, but this doesn’t hit as hard as I was hoping. Of all things, I don’t love the glaze. It leaves a weird texture in my mouth after every spoonful, very similar to the mouthfeel after eating a couple of those bagged mini donuts (it’s authentic!). This feeling is consistent across all three of these cereals; it doesn’t ruin the experience, but it is the only downside to an otherwise pleasant flavor-and-texture combo.

Apple Jacks Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

New Cereal!

Apple Jacks Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

Pros: This was my favorite of these three new cereals based on how accurate and strong the apple cinnamon donut flavor is. I’m chalking that up to the cinnamon specks on each piece—an extra boost in flavor that the other two cereals lack.

Cons: This note goes for all three of these cereals, but especially Apple Jacks: Why aren’t these just ring-shaped donut cereals rather than round donut hole cereals? Apple Jacks are already donut-shaped. It’s crazy that the Apple Jacks-flavored donut cereal isn’t donut-shaped, right? I’m no cereal scientist, but I feel like we nailed the standard donut shape in cereal format like, a million years ago. The back of the boxes all have a little math problem that says you get more glaze on these orbs than you would on a classic cereal loop, but I’m not letting a cereal box tell me what to think.

Krave Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

New Cereal!

Krave Glazed Donut Hole Cereal

Pros: I’ve never had the original Krave cereal these are based on, so I can’t comment on how well the donut hole version represents the chocolate-filled cereal squares. But it’s fine. It’s wild that it took this long to make those Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs Calvin loved so much.

Cons: This is a positive for me, but I could easily see it being a downside for others: These balls aren’t too chocolaty. The light, airy texture of each cereal bit means there isn’t a ton of actual material to be flavored. If you’re hoping for a true chocolate explosion, look elsewhere.

Where can I find these new cereals for myself?

All three Glazed Donut Hole cereals are available wherever Kellogg’s cereal is sold (aka, wherever any brand name cereals are sold).
