The Maine Potato Chips Lily Cousins Swears By

Welcome to Mythical Kitchen Picks, the series in which the culinary experts from Mythical Kitchen tell you all about their favorite foods and ingredients! We’re celebrating Uncle Sam(wich) week this week, so we asked the team of Kitcheneers for their favorite sandwich ingredients and sides. Today, Lily Cousins reveals her favorite regional sandwich side from her home state of Maine.

There are two types of people in this world: those who take a serving size handful of chips to put in a bowl to enjoy as a light snack and those who rip open the bag and go ham until the bag is empty. You can probably guess which one I am and that’s why I’m recommending Humpty Dumpty BBQ Chips as my favorite sandwich side.

I am a little biased. I’ve been eating these potato cruncharonis since my parents signed the adoption papers and made me a citizen of the US of A. Most BBQ chip brands tend to lean on the sweeter side, but Humpty Dumpty actually packs a punch of heat, a little sweetness, and the perfect amount of saltiness. To sum it all up, if you’re sittin’ on the pond playing cribbage with an ice cold Twisted Tea and a big bag of Humpty Dumpty BBQ chips in your lap, you’re guaranteed a wicked good time.

Humpty Dumpty also has other flavors—All Dressed and Dill Pickle are a couple of my other favs. Also, I don’t know who’s trying to get Maine cred around here, but, don’t flex on how many lobster rolls you’ve had and no one cares if you hiked up Acadia. The real Mainers eat snapper dogs with a side of Humpty Dumpty BBQ chips. If that doesn’t impress your friends, I don’t know what will.
