Is this the day we finally go too far with dirty soda? Look, all things must come to an end, and if McDonald’s release of its new Creamy Strawberry Coke marks the watershed moment on this extended trend, then we wouldn’t be surprised. Like almost every other fast food chain, McDonald’s has spent much of 2026 rolling out a dirty soda menu – and honestly, we liked all of them. Over in Canada, though, McDonald’s customers have got a flavor of their very own. And it’s not going down well.

So, Creamy Strawberry Coke. What’s the deal, McDonald’s?
Creamy Strawberry Coke: Maybe We Don’t Need Some Things
McDonald’s Creamy Strawberry Coke is a unique addition to the McDonald’s Canada dirty soda line-up, which also includes Orange Dream and Sprite Berry Bliss (and you can find those ones on the US menu, too). As @snackolator and the McDonald’s Canada website itself states, this is a strawberries & cream-inspired Coke, made with strawberries & cream syrup and a smooth cold foam topping.
So far, so good – but while those latter two drinks have been received well by customers, the Creamy Strawberry Coke has not. In fact, it’s gone down poorly.
How Poorly?
Very poorly. Reviews of this drink have started rolling in on Reddit and via Chatelaine, and no-one really has much good to say about it. The main problem with the Creamy Strawberry Coke is that it tastes fake. Reviewers over at Chatelaine said that it “the flavour leans too artificial: intense strawberry notes overpower the entire drink, muting that classic Coke flavour,” before concluding that it doesn’t stick the landing. On Reddit, meanwhile, that strawberry syrup is again dubbed as artificial, and masking anything else in the beverage.
There’s also the cold foam of it all. “Watching the cream split and turn chunky was off putting,” said one Redditor of their experience with the drink. Turns out, McDonald’s isn’t quite nailing the Coke float effect that they’re trying to go for, and given the expense of literally everything these days, people are expecting a little more. That said, the Creamy Strawberry Coke does have some defenders. One person, again on Reddit, did state that it felt Coke float-like, and gave it a 7/10. However, a 7/10 isn’t exactly the highest praise that a drink could muster.
To be honest, the reviews of this new beverage confirm my long-held feeling that strawberry and Coke just don’t quite go together, no matter how much people try to make me think that they do. Maybe, just maybe, we should be leaving strawberries and cream flavors to pies (Costco’s got a new bakery item, if you’re into that kinda thing).
