Is it any wonder that fast food chains everywhere are embracing the power of chicken? It’s not like they didn’t in the past, but in the last couple of years, this protein has seriously risen in the ranks. Sure, there’s the never-ending appeal of fried chicken in nugget, strip, and sandwich form (the last of which has potentially led to the return of the KFC Snacker, and Carl Jr.’s new fried chicken sandwich), but there’s also the fact that beef prices are continuing to rise – and in the last few weeks, it was predicted that they may get even higher, due to a knock-on effect of the Strait of Hormuz blockade, per Forbes.

McDonald’s is clearly not taking any risks with all this, and so far this year, it’s gone big on the chicken. We’ve already seen the revival of the Chicken Big Mac (albeit only in Canada), and now, the restaurant is working on adding six new flavors of McCrispy Chicken Strips to its lineup. Here’s what we know.
New McCrispy Chicken Strips Flavors
McDonald’s has been testing its new McCrispy Chicken Strip options in select locations in Chicago, and so far, they seem to be generating a lot of buzz – which is, of course, great news for the chain. These options are:
- Teriyaki
- Sweet Chili
- Kickin’ BBQ
- Garlic Parm
- Sweet Asian
- Spicy Chili Garlic
Its range of flavors is pretty refreshing, and indicates that McDonald’s feels that there aren’t many limits when it comes to its chicken strips. We do have to point out that some of these flavors are kinda in the same ballpark – we’re not sure exactly how different Sweet Chili, Sweet Asian, and Spicy Chili Garlic are going to be from each other – but we’re also firm believers that more options are always better when it comes to chicken strips. So, honestly, we’re not complaining.
When Will These New Chicken Strips Be Available Everywhere?
Sadly, we don’t know. McDonald’s is generating a lot of traction online with these new flavors, and that’s never entirely coincidental – and if it is organic attention, then it’s a good sign for the restaurant, as it means that people are genuinely excited about them. However, as yet, there’s no word of them going nationwide. Yet.
We can only hope that, if it does take them across the country, McDonald’s gets these new strips right – as to be honest, it didn’t get a lot of good press when it began testing its new McCrispy Tenders. People quite fairly pointed out that these were pretty much exactly the same as its McCrispy Strips (even though the folks who tried them did say that they were pretty good). So we admire the innovation of these new flavors, but it’s all about sticking the landing, and Mickey D’s has yet to prove itself on that one here.
