M&M’s Latest Drop Is Both Spooky And Cozy

There’s no point in fighting it anymore: It’s the end of August (cue that Noah Kahan song that’s been doing the rounds on TikTok), and Halloween candy is everywhere. In typical fashion, this is a very busy time for M&M’s. The brand actually started early this year, but if you thought that the release of its pumpkin pie flavor would be the end of things, you would be mistaken. No, no: M&M’s is building a spooky candy empire this year, and it wants to take over your drinks next.

How do we know this? Because it’s just dropped some new hot chocolate balls, and we want to talk about them. Let’s drop in. 

M&M’s Witch’s Brew Hot Chocolate Balls

A few days ago, @candyhunting revealed that new M&M’s Witch’s Brew Hot Chocolate Balls are on their way to stores for Halloween – and by Halloween, we mean the months leading up to Halloween. Anyway. These hot chocolate balls have a white chocolate shell with green colored hot chocolate mix, along with milk chocolate M&M’s. The idea is that you put one in a glass, cover it with hot milk, and the ball melts, releasing chocolatey flavor and a vibrant green hue that makes everything feel appropriately frightening. 

There’s not a lot of information on these hot chocolate balls from M&M’s side, and at present, it doesn’t look like they’re being sold at some of the major retailers like Walmart or Target – which means that we don’t have access to some of the product information usually provided for their online listings. However, it looks as though these are being sold one per pack, much like they were a few years ago, when M&M’s did a similar thing a few years ago around the holidays with its Hot Chocolate Ball with Mini Marshmallows & M&M’s Minis. Back then, The Tiny Reviewer on YouTube reviewed the hot chocolate ball, and concluded that there wasn’t anything particularly special about it – “it’s just hot chocolate, to be honest,” was the verdict. Will these Witch’s Brew Hot Chocolate Balls improve on things? We’ll have to wait to find out – and if you’re near a Woodman’s, that’s where @candyhunting found theirs.

If you can’t find them, though, it’s not actually that difficult to make homemade hot chocolate balls yourself; you just need a silicone chocolate sphere mold, into which you pour melted chocolate chips, allowing it to set before putting hot chocolate powder and any mix-ins of your choice in the middle. Seal, place in glass, enjoy. Hey, we’re all trying to save money this Halloween.
