If you hadn’t heard already, Monster Energy revealed nearly a dozen new drinks at the National Association of Convenience Stores’ Expo a few weeks ago. I spent a good amount of time at Monster Energy’s NACS booth, checking out the new drinks and gossiping with employees about how underrated the Rehab line is. I was even lucky enough to bring home a few full cans of upcoming flavors to review for you good people. Today, I’m trying Monster’s new “Electric Blue” energy drink, which is rolling onto shelves nationwide as we speak. Read on to find out whether it’s worth hunting down.

Monster Energy Blue Electric review

New Full Sugar Monster!

Monster Energy Blue Electric

Pros: This flavor, described as “shockingly smooth blue raspberry popsicle” on Monster’s website, is exactly as described; this drink is so popsicle-y, I want to wash my hands after drinking it. And the “shockingly smooth” callout is dead-on as it’s only lightly carbonated. It’s very similar to nitrogenated sodas and energy drinks. Also, newsflash, this drink is made with real sugar—no corn syrup in sight!

Cons: This drink is made with a lot of real sugar—102% of your daily added sugar per can. Monster’s zero-sugar drinks are so good, it’s such a hard change to swap over to one of their sugar-loaded standard drinks. Did this really need the additional sweetness from the included sucralose at the end of the day?

How is this new Monster not in the Monster Reserve line?

I’m afraid Monster Reserve has left the building. The Reserve line, characterized by ultra-indulgent flavors made with full sugar, will not see any restocks moving forward. If I had to guess, the Orange Creamsicle Reserve flavor was the highest-selling flavor and this new line is launching with a similar-but-not-identical Orange Dreamsicle flavor. (Stay tuned for my review of that energy drink going live soon.) While these new Monsters aren’t classified under a “name” like Reserve, I believe the new Electric Blue and Orange Dreamsicle energy drinks are the spiritual successors to Monster Reserve’s throne.

Monster is releasing plenty of new flavors to satiate and (hopefully) replace any discontinued favorites; click here to read about all eleven new Monster Energy drinks releasing between now and May 2026.
