Recently, Mountain Dew and Trolli gave us both Mountain Dew-flavored Trolli and Trolli-flavored Mountain Dew—but the partnership didn’t end there. There’s a frozen version of Trolli-flavored Mountain Dew exclusively available at Circle K!

It’s made with both high fructose corn syrup and sucralose (the soda was exclusively zero sugar and used aspartame), so I’m curious to see how the frozen version stacks up against the soda. I stopped in at Circle K to give it a try. Here’s the official review.

Mountain Dew Trolli Cherry Lemon Froster

New Mountain Dew Froster

Mountain Dew Trolli Cherry Lemon Froster

Pros: This frozen Trolli Mountain Dew dials up the sourness much more than the soda. While I am a fan of the zero sugar soda, I think the high fructose corn syrup in the Froster allows the flavor profile to fill out a little bit more. Much like the soda, this captures the essence of the gummy worm and is an excellent blend of both cherry and lemon flavors.

Cons: Why can I only get a sugar-filled version of the Trolli Mountain Dew as a Froster? Why is it only at Circle K? Why can’t I have it year round?

Verdict: Nitpicks aside, this is one of the best Froster releases I’ve tried from Mountain Dew in a long while. If you were disappointed that Mountain Dew Trolli Cherry Lemon was zero sugar only, head to your local Circle K and give this a try. Although there’s sucralose present, I’d argue you can’t taste it and it is far down on the ingredients list, suggesting it isn’t used very heavily. Grab it before Spooky Season comes to an end!
