Y’all, I’m overwhelmed today. Normally, I cover new products in quantities of one to four. but Cholula is putting me to work. There are eleven new products under the Cholula banner and we’ve got the details on every single one. Let’s run through everything Cholula is bringing to shelves—and discuss what we might try for ourselves.
Cholula Cooking Sauces
Cholula has launched a solid starting lineup of “cooking sauce” flavors: Original Taco, Fajita, Carne Asada, and Birria. Per the brand, these new sauces can be used as a simmer sauce for meats or veg or as a topping on your finished product.
Cholula Cremosa
Speaking of finishing sauces, Cholula is also getting into the cremosa game. For the uninitiated, cremosa is a thick, dairy-based cream sauce (think crème fraîche and you’re pretty close). You’ll be able to find these Cholula’s new cremosas in both Cilantro Lime and Chipotle.
Cholula Chamoy
The popular chili condiment chamoy has been popping up more and more in American snacks and drinks. Hell, I just bought a bag of Hi-Chew that included a mango chamoy flavor. As we can see by the breadth of today’s products, Cholula isn’t leaving any stones unturned. Case in point, we will see a Cholula-branded take on chamoy.
Cholula Chili Crisp
Yes, Cholula is also launching their version of chili crisp. While the Fly By Jing or Lao Gan Ma chili crisps taking America by storm are Chinese in origin, Cholula’s version will be inspired by the Mexican condiment salsa macha. After a brief googling, it does appear that China and Mexico independently created very similar spicy condiments. We’ll definitely be getting this in to try for ourselves.
Cholula Taco Seasoning Mixes
In addition to all the new goodies, Cholula is expanding two of their existing product lines. First off, we’ve got two new flavors in Cholula’s existing taco seasoning line: Original Fajita and Pork Carnitas. As I’ll explain later, I’ve definitely got my eyes on one of these to review here on Sporked.
Cholula Original Hot Salsa
Finally, we’ve got a new salsa from Cholula. While the original Cholula salsa is no slouch in the heat department, this new “Hot” version takes it up a notch.
What should we keep an eye out for?
With a launch this big, we can’t try everything—I can only eat so many tacos in a week (even if that number has yet to be discovered). That said, I’m hoping to put together a Cholula-fueled carnitas night so I can give y’all the juicy details.
