Based on the can, we’re getting strawberry and pineapple in this punch!

Last month, we reported on a rumor that Crush soda was following up it’s retro-themed Back To The ’80s Electric Blue Razz Soda with a ’90s tropical punch-themed soda. Well, they’ve finally confirmed it and it’s got all the ’90s theming and colorways you could want in a soda.
What do we know about new Crush Big Troppa Punch?
While we still haven’t had a chance to try it yet, the cans and bottle feature strawberries and pineapple, so we’re betting it’ll have a classic “tropical fruit punch taste” with a blend of different fruit flavors, in the style of classic ’90s drinks like General Mill’s Squeezit bottles or Capri Sun’s Pacific Cooler (one of the best Capri Sun flavors). (And I’m betting there’s a little orange in the mix, since this is Crush we’re talking about.)
The can also says it has a blend of “natural and artificial flavors,” which is a little surprising to me, as I’m not used to getting actual fruit juices in my tropical punch drinks. Sure, I won’t complain, but I always got the impression that the closest my ’90s drinks got to fruit juice was the cartoon pineapple on the label. (You know, the one wearing sunglasses? He seemed pretty trustworthy.)
You’ll be able to catch in 12oz cans and 20oz bottles, each with a 90s-inspired color scheme that’ll make you think a Taco Bell exploded.
When will it hit stores?
It’s slated to hit stores in July, but retailers are already listing it online, if you want to get ahead of the Crush rush. However, last year’s Back to the ’80s Electric Blue Razz was also limited edition and you can still find it for sale, so chances are it’ll at least be around for a couple months, if not a year.
But I’m expecting it to be popular, as dedicated fans have been searching out Crush’s regular Fruit Punch soda for the last couple years, as it can be hard to find in stores. Some fans love it, writing “HIGHLY ADDICTIVE.. doesn’t leave a bad after taste not as intense as Tihitian (sic) treat.. or Fanta and doesn’t leave you with that heavy red 40 dye taste either!!” while others are bit more lukewarm about it, writing, “The flavor is a lot weaker than other crush flavors, like orange or grape.”
Here’s hoping that Big Troppa Punch proves a bit more flavorful than that.
