Caffeine fiends, Monster has your back. Three brand-new energy drinks are hitting shelves nationwide this week: Watermelon Sour Gummy REIGN Total Body Fuel, Lime Pop Drop Bang Energy, and Voodoo Grape Juice Monster Energy. We’ve got all the details you need; let’s see how different three new energy drinks from the same company can truly be.
I only see one new Monster drink; what do you mean Monster is dropping three new drinks?
(First off, it’s technically four, but I already covered the national expansion of Lando Norris Zero Sugar earlier this week.) Technically speaking, the new energy drinks you see above are all Monster energy drinks, but they’re not Monster Energy drinks. Strap in, this is a little complicated. The “Reign Total Body Fuel,” “Bang Energy,” and “Monster Energy” brands are all owned by the same parent company: Monster Beverage Corporation. The brands are marketed separately to slightly different groups, but decision-making, distribution, and marketing all come from the same place. (It’s basically an energy drink hydra.)
That’s enough nitty-gritty—let’s get onto the new energy drinks!
Watermelon Sour Gummy REIGN Total Body Fuel
First off, we have the newest permanent addition to the REIGN Total Body Fuel lineup: Watermelon Sour Gummy. This zero-sugar energy drink features a hefty 300mg of caffeine per can. As I mentioned last year, my friend Cam (aka, “the MUSECA guy” from this WIRED article about our shared hobby) is anxiously awaiting this drink to further his watermelon gummy addiction. Since there won’t be an official Sour Patch Kids Watermelon energy drink anytime soon, Cam and I are both looking forward to checking out REIGN’s new take on sour gummies. This new energy drink is even fueling Super Bowl champions like Seattle SeaHawks’ linebacker DeMarcus “Tank” Lawrence, who cracked one open to celebrate his victory on Sunday evening.
Lime Pop Drop Bang Energy
Remember Bang Energy? They’re still kicking! This is another high-octane zero-sugar energy drink, packing 300mg of caffeine per can. While “Lime Pop Drop” sounds like Bang’s attempt to capture the lemon-lime soda market before GHOST’s attempt later this year, this drink is actually aiming for a lime candy profile, pairing sharp citrus with a hefty dose of sweetness.
Voodoo Grape Juice Monster Energy
Lastly, the only Monster Energy drink we have to talk about: Voodoo Grape Juice Monster. If you’re not looking to stay awake through a cram session or double-shift, this new energy drink’s got a Goldilocks-level 160mg of caffeine—more than a Red Bull, less than an Alani Nu. I gave a glowing review to this new full-sugar Juice Monster; check that out for my detailed opinions on if Monster truly achieved “grape juice in energy drink form.”
