Frosted Flakes Is Releasing Three New Flavors in May, and One Might Turn Your Milk…Pink?

Well, it was a grrrrrrrreat surprise to me, but it turns out that Tony the Tiger is not just a one-trick cat. Kellogg’s has announced that in addition to its existing flock of Frosted Flake flavors, the breakfast cereal giant will be releasing two new varieties and one flavor revamp come May.

The current Frosted Flake lineup includes classic frosted, honey nut, chocolate, and Frosted Flakes with marshmallows (Tony the Tiger-shaped marshmallows, of course). About a year ago they even did a limited-edition collab with Shaq to create a variety with little cinnamon-y basketballs.

So what’s next for the iconic sugar-encrusted breakfast of champions? It seems that our buddy Tony has decided to take things to the next level by revamping and reintroducing the chocolate flavor, as well as bringing two entirely new players into the game (and no, neither one is Shaq this time). The new flavors are Strawberry Milkshake and Cinnamon French Toast. The former should be an exciting jaunt into the world of strawberry cereal milk, one I have yet to discover but would love to explore. The latter seems to be an answer to General Mills’ ever-popular Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a cultural (and culinary) phenomenon no other cereal company has yet been able to duplicate. Will Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes be the first to come close? At the very least, it’ll probably please fans of discontinued Cinnamon Frosted Flakes.

As for the revamped chocolate flakes, the company says the new iteration will include vanilla flavor along with the cocoa that’s been present since the cereal launched in 2017. Will it change the taste for the better? For now, only a very muscular tiger knows.
