5 New Products at Trader Joe’s We’re Psyched to Try

It’s December (aka time for your annual reminder that Mariah Carey is the real Christmas queen and Santa’s a second-rate chump). And it’s also time for Trader Joe’s to receive another influx of exciting new foods that we cannot wait to try. What’s new at Trader Joe’s? We’re so glad you asked.

While TJ’s has a wide selection of peppermint flavored favorites and eggnog-infused options, there’s also some decidedly non-Christmassy items popping up in the aisles this month. Here are five new products at Trader Joe’s that we’ll be adding to our shopping lists this December.

English Toffee Ice Cream

Do you ever smell brown butter and wish that more stuff tasted like that? Do you ever sit back and sigh with satisfaction knowing that toffee is not only delicious at the time you eat it, but is also a fantastic “for later” snack when it finally works its way off of your back molars? Well, Trader Joe’s has combined some of the best things in life to give us the seasonal treat of a lifetime. The ice cream itself is brown butter flavored, and it’s filled with chocolate-covered toffee pieces and almonds. For those who want to indulge in a caramely, nuttiness that makes you feel all warm inside while also giving yourself brainfreeze, go grab 50,000 pints of this new-at-Trader-Joe’s limited ice cream.

Lemon Stuffed Olives

Chalkidki olives are already on the olive-lovers’ nice list, due to their substantial heft and unapologetic brininess, but stuffing them with lemon peel is the perfect way to ensure that they will always have a place on the charcuterie board. Of course, you might eat them all while stress-cleaning before your guests arrive. Either way, they’re a crucial buy this winter.

French Onion Popcorn

French onion popcorn?! Shut the front door. Then open the pantry door. Then, look around to make sure nobody sees you and tiptoe to a private place where you won’t have to share. Finally, you can enjoy the flavors of French onion soup without absolutely incinerating your mouth. Plus, this is way easier to take on the go.

Garlic Gondolas

“Gondola” may conjure a picturesque image of a hopelessly-in-love couple floating blissfully on a lagoon, but that’s a waste. We don’t want gondolas filled with romance, we want them filled with garlic. The boat-shaped pizza dough is filled with a garlicky, buttery sauce before being sprinkled with grated cheese, baked, and flash frozen. You can heat and eat them as is, or fill them with additions like veggies or meat before enjoying. We only wish they were a wee bit bigger, so we could live out our dream of falling asleep wrapped in a blanket of garlic, cheese, and bread.

Chao Tom

Packed with flavor from minced shrimp, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and lemongrass, these sugarcane-speared, lollipop-like handhelds come frozen, ready to reheat, and even more ready to blow some gosh darn minds. Pass them around at a cocktail party, or let your ungrateful guests gorge on cheese and crackers while you smile smugly to yourself knowing these are in your freezer. Pop a couple in the air fryer and enjoy in your stretchy pants by the light of Bravo shows.
