Someone put on Michael Bublé because it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Well, it is on grocery store shelves, at least. You may still be resisting festive creep as much as possible, but with each passing day, supermarkets get more and more Christmassy, as yuletide food products drop at a frantic pace. And it’s not just cookies, cakes, desserts, and appetizers. It’s also cereals. This year’s Christmas cereals have started to appear, with Cocoa Pebbles already dropping its fan-favorite Naughty or Nice options, and Oreo is about to do the same.

And for 2026, the cookie brand is incorporating – or co-opting, perhaps – another Christmas favorite. Will it work first thing in the morning? I’m not totally convinced. Here’s why.
Candy Cane Oreo Puffs
This year, Oreo will release new Puffs in a Candy Cane flavor. Actually, I should clarify that: The puffs themselves are the same, but as @markie_devo revealed, Oreo has decided to mix them with pink peppermint-flavored marshmallows. It doesn’t quite capture the look of candy canes with these marshmallows, but to be honest, bright red marshmallows would have been a little affronting – so it’s probably wise it didn’t go down that route.
Candy Cane Oreo Puffs are due to drop in stores in November (an appropriate time for them to appear, I think we can all agree!), and they’ll be available up until Christmas, presumably in most major retailers. So far, customers seem to be pretty excited about ‘em. “Looks amazing,” said one person, while another said, “I am intrigued by this. Can’t wait to pick up a box.”
And We’re Intrigued Too…
Here’s my reservation about these new puffs: For me, mint in the morning has always equated to toothpaste. I’m a big fan of mint chocolate, but usually several hours after I’ve worked my way through my mouth hygiene for the first half of the day – and do these puffs not slightly, slightly bear the risk of tasting like a bowl of Oreo Puffs that you’re eating a few minutes after you’ve brushed your teeth? I’m not sure, and I’m going to withhold judgment until people have been able to try these things and we get a broader sense of what they’re like. I’m just questioning it slightly; that’s all I’m saying.
On the other hand, Oreo Puffs could be the perfect way to start a frosty morning: A jolt of peppermint to wake up the senses. Different strokes for different folks, perhaps.
