A lot of beverage brands are doing a lot of innovating these days, and we’ll take it. (Seriously, all of it―America’s thirsty.) Austin-based prebiotic soda brand poppi is no exception to the innovation game. But to be honest, we’re a bit extra excited to hear about an upcoming new release because it isn’t just a fun new poppi flavor. Well, it is a new flavor, but it also comes with a kick―the kind we like in our beverages, the jalapeño variety. Yep, poppi’s going spicy and their Spicy Limeade is set to debut in March of next year.

A Brand New Flavor
Yes, March 2027 is a bit far away. But there’s reason to get a bit giddy now. For one thing, and I don’t know about you, this year seems to be going fast. Yes, parts of it (and certain hours of certain days) can feel insanely slow. But in general, 2026 kind of blipped by. So in a way, it’ll be March 2027 like, tomorrow.
The other reason I’m excited is because the flavor profile is so classically craveable, but less visible in the prebiotic space. And since poppi takes its flavors seriously, our expectations are a bit high. We’re expecting a bright, poppi-level sweet lime flavor (a bit more botanical and green than lemon). That alone would be refreshingly bright against a bubbly backdrop, but (not gonna lie, mouth watering a bit), thinking about the fruit-forward heat of jalapeño amplified with those bubbles―there’s a bit of a culinary moment going on.
Six Weeks Of Spicy Soda
Again, it’s a ways away (which gives us all time to reflect on how we kind of called the “spicy soda” thing?). But maybe the timing is kind of perfect. If you think about it, what month of the year needs a bit of a spicy, bubbly kick more than March? Except for St. Patrick’s Day, all the major holidays are either far behind or far ahead, and wherever you are the weather is usually a bit drab. So maybe the timing will make for a perky little prebiotic wake-up call.
When you do see the Spicy Limeade, though, be sure to pick it up―unlike some of poppi’s other upcoming flavor innovations, this one will be a limited-time-only offering. Starting in March, you’ll have about six weeks to get your jalapeño kicks. Of course, as with any flavor rollout, we’d have to assume poppi would respond to serious customer enthusiasm with potential permanent status for the flavor. Time will tell, soon―seriously it’ll be 2027 in like, twenty minutes, and then we can all relax and crack a can and let the new year heat up just a little bit.
