I could set my watch to the Red Bull “rumor to mouth” pipeline. I cover the internal reveal of a new flavor, I get tons of DMs saying I’m wrong because their cousin’s friend’s manager said so, and I try the exact flavor I talked about a few months later. This happens every single time. Today, I’m reviewing the very same Red Bull flavor I first covered back in May: Fuji Apple & Ginger.
Red Bull was nice enough to send over both the full sugar and sugarfree variants of the new Winter Edition (plus a branded copper Mule mug!?); it’s time to find out whether this bull gives you wings or just gets the horns.
Pros: This Red Bull has a genuine Fuji apple flavor, complemented by a hint of ginger complexity. I’m so glad the energy drink companies finally realized green apple isn’t the only apple you can use as a flavor base; Red Bull joins Monster Energy and Bloom in the hallowed “released a delicious red apple energy drink in 2025” club. Here’s hoping this red apple trend sticks around for good.
Cons: It doesn’t need the ginger. Red Bull Winter Editions require a flavor elementthat feels wintery, and ginger certainly does the job—but this would be just as good without it. Maybe they’ll drop it for a future permanent revival of this flavor.

Sugar Free
Red Bull Winter Edition Sugarfree: Fuji Apple & Ginger
Pros: The Fuji apple flavor is just as strong in the sugar free version, but if you want a truly ginger-heavy Fuji Apple Red Bull, this is the version you want. The artificial sweetener makes this sweeter than the standard. Basically, this flavor is punchier than the full sugar across the board…
Cons: …which is not a positive! I love the overall flavor balance in the full sugar version, so the extra-sweet, extra-ginger sugarfree version just comes off extra. This isn’t uncommon for sugar free energy drinks, but ginger is not something I want an extra helping of.
