One Of Germany’s Best Chocolates Is Now At Target

German chocolate, as anyone who’s tried it knows, is excellent. Creamy, cocoa-rich, made with good-quality ingredients: It’s up there with the best. And so, when news arrives of a German chocolate brand making waves and launching new flavors, we’re all ears. More variety, more choices for everyone, more deliciousness…the only way is up.

The brand in question is Ritter Sport, perhaps best-known for its square bars (along with its very, very good chocolate), which is about to make one of its biggest, if not the biggest, moves yet in the US. You’ll now be able to find it at a Target near you.

Ritter Sport DUOs

Yesterday, Ritter Sport USA announced that it would be launching its large-format DUOs bars at 900 Target stores across the country. Up until this point, these bars have been available across Europe and through specialty importers (while non-duo Ritter Sport bars have been available at various retailers, like Publix). The concept of these bars, as the name suggests, is that you get two flavors in one go – they’re kind of like half-and-half pizzas, but for chocolate. Ritter Sport will launch two flavors at Target: Its Sweet & Salty DUO, a mixture of caramel cream and salty butter biscuit chunks with rich chocolate brownie, and its Cookie DUO, which brings together chocolate cream, cookie pieces, and vanilla cream with cocoa and vanilla biscuit pieces. Everything comes coated in chocolate, for your delectation. 

I’ve never tried Ritter’s DUO bars, but I have tried some of its other chocolate flavors – and as far as chocolate goes, it knows what it’s doing. Its milk chocolate bars somehow nail being both super sweet and nuanced at the same time, and generally speaking, they just feel like good-quality products. Its dark chocolate is a winner, too. Plus, I’m a sucker for a square bar. I don’t know why. I just love ‘em. Get your DUOS now.

New Fall Products

Along with its Target announcement, Ritter Sport also revealed that it was launching two new products for all. Its Mixed Caramel Minis are a new selection pack of flavors, with caramel pretzel, caramel popcorn, and double caramel crunch all coming together in one bag. Its Caramel Choco Cubes, meanwhile, are little bite-sized chunks of milk chocolate with double caramel layers. These new varieties can be found at retailers like Woodman’s, Publix, Kroger, CVS, and Hy-Vee. If you don’t like salted caramel, these will be dead in the water for you; if you do, they might just be your new fave.
