These New Ruffles Put a Twisty Spin on a Classic Chip

If there’s one fact we all know to be true, it’s that Ruffles have ridges. Well, that’s still true, don’t worry. But Ruffles also have twists now—or at, least some of them do. And no this is not Ruffles getting into spooky season by trying to scare us into thinking our beloved ridges are gone. The classic Ruffles with ridges remain. But now we also have the option of Ruffles Ridge Twists, which technically still have ridges (in a twisty way) and come in two dank-looking flavors.

So what even are these new Ruffles Ridge Twists?

Well, they look kind of like Fritos Flavor Twists (which look a lot like uncooked Rotini pasta). In other words, they’re twisted, sister. But unlike Fritos Twists (which are made of corn) or pasta (which is made of water, wheat, and eggs, usually), these new Ruffles Ridge Twists are made of potato. And that’s where they lost me. Not lost me as in, “Ew, I hate potatoes, gross” but lost me as in, “I cannot actually imagine what the texture of these would be like so now I have to try them to find out?!”

Ruffles Ridge Twists come in two flavors: Double Cheddar and Smoky BBQ. I feel like people who don’t like cheesy chips tend to like BBQ ones and vice versa—it’s just science—so Ruffles really does have something for everyone. And just when you thought these chips couldn’t get any cooler, both flavors will carry the WNBA logo, and the BBQ ones will have a picture of A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. Not only is Wilson a 4x WNBA All-Star and an Olympic gold medalist, she is also Ruffles’ newest “chip deal athlete” and the first female athlete to sign with the company. She follows in the footsteps of other legendary ballers like LeBron James and Jayson Tatum. Go A’ja! And also, go Ruffles!

I’m going to be honest, I like Ruffles. I really do. But they are not generally my first choice for chips. But these new Ridge Twists?! Of course I’ll wait until I try them to pass judgment, but from where I’m sitting they seem fun and unique, and they support badass female athletes. So they may just find their way into my chip top five. Now wouldn’t that be a twist?
