Look. We know we shouldn’t do it. We all know that eating ice cream just before bed is a recipe for disaster. It gives you heartburn. It stops you sleeping. It makes you feel groggy the next day. And yet? We all do it. Last night I had half a carton of Biscoff ice cream (which is available here in the UK) before I hit the hay, and while I may not feel my best today, I still had a great time. Even if my stomach gave me trouble at 3 a.m.

So, obviously, when I heard that there was an ice cream that might help me cruise through the night without said tummy trouble, you better believe I was interested. Introducing Snooz, an ice cream that is specifically designed to help you sleep. Wild, right?
Eat Ice Cream, Sleep Better
Snooz describes itself as “the world’s dreamiest ice cream” (we’ll be the judge of that – we’ve tried a lot of them!), and it’s loaded with ingredients that are designed to help you ease into a restful night of sleep. Each tub is infused with chamomile (which usually comes in tea form), magnesium, lemon balm, and L-theanine, all of which are intended to work as relaxing aids to get you ready for bed. Tubs of Snooz also have added fiber, which the brand says helps sleep by stabilizing blood sugar and stopping you from waking up with hunger pangs in the night.
Snooz was created by Sophie Medelin, a consultant dietitian and chair of the British Dietetic Association for London, and Henry Milroy, who formerly founded Pan-n-Ice. It currently comes in three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and salted caramel. At the moment, it’s only available in a handful of UK stores, but hey – if it takes off, it could be coming to one near you.
Ice Cream with an Impact: The New Frontier
Sleep aid ice cream might sound completely wild, but to be honest, it’s just the latest in the movement towards giving this dessert a bit more of a purpose than just tasting really good. Protein ice cream has been all the rage recently (we even tried five flavors of it last year, and we liked all of them), and more and more food companies are realizing that people might want help to doze off as well as in the gym. A couple of weeks back, we brought you word that Red Bull has a sleep aid drink of its own, which kinda blew our minds, but which made us realise that truly anything is possible when it comes to rebranding.
We’re sure we’ll bring you word of Snooz’s wider expansion when it comes; for now, you’ll have to book a flight to London to try it. Just don’t oversleep and miss your return trip.
