Wow. I guess there’s a first time for everything. Between early movie release dates, random brand popups, and food collaborations, I’m used to getting spoon-fed all the exclusive perks in Los Angeles. Now I’m learning that one Midwest city gets to test out a Taco Bell dessert before the rest of us?? Where’s the fairness in that! I’m about to take to the streets to share my disappointment.

Before I get to that, we should cover the details of the drop. That way you have a better understanding of what we’re all missing out on. One lone Midwest city, Grand Rapids, is in the midst of testing out Taco Bell’s new Crème Brûlée Crunchwrap Slider.

It Sounds Dreamy

The Crème Brûlée Crunchwrap slider combines creamy vanilla filling, a crispy cinnamon sugar tostada that’s wrapped inside a warm, grilled tortilla. That’s finished off with a caramelized cinnamon sugar crust that beautifully and elegantly cracks with every bite. It’s a sweet twist on the iconic hexagon that put Taco Bell on the map for the thousandth time. It’s equal parts nostalgic and truly unexpected. But all equal parts welcomed to my tummy.

Okay, admittedly they don’t look the greatest. @snackolator on X.com shared a few pictures of the real product. The pictures themselves are low quality and the product itself does look a little lackluster. That doesn’t mean they won’t taste divine, though. In all fairness, it is a lot to ask of a Taco Bell employee to brûlée sugar in the middle of a rush. So I’ll certainly give them some grace.

Here’s Hoping It Takes Off

Like I said, this is only being tested at the moment. I’m hoping and praying that it wows the test audience so we can get it nationwide. As a Taco Bell cinnamon twists denier, I’d love a dessert to actually get excited about on my next visit. At a price point of $1.99, there really is little reason this shouldn’t wow anyone who is able to try it.

I scoured the internet for a review of the Crème Brûlée Crunchwrap Slider. It just started its testing in Grand Rapids but I was able to find one review from its initial introduction way back at the Live Más LIVE event earlier this year. Hunter Reis with Tasting Table found it to be his favorite dessert introduced at the event. “The sweetness of the caramel lent itself well to the soft and cinnamon-topped tortilla wrapper, making for a wholly pleasant snack.” Count us all the way in for this one!
