The Best Galentine’s Day Desserts

Well folks, it’s that time of year again. That is to say, it’s almost February, which means it is almost February 13, aka every strong independent girlboss’s favorite international holiday: Galentine’s Day. What is Galentine’s Day, you ask? Well, in short, a beacon of platonic womanly love. In long, it is a glorious day of “kickin’ it breakfast style” and “ladies celebratin’ ladies” and “uteruses before duderuses.” It’s a day for women to celebrate all the lovely supportive women in their lives, eat breakfast, brunch, or desserts (whatever feels right in the moment), and appreciate the wildly emotionally and intellectually intelligent beings that make up roughly 50% of the population on this here earth. So put your “ovaries before your brovaries” and your “fries before guys,” and pick up some of these delicious Galentine’s Day desserts for you and your gal pals.

Tate’s Bake Shop Chocolate Chip Cookies

You love your girlfriends. You would do anything for them. But sometimes you simply do not have time to make cookies from scratch. Never fear, these cookies from Tate’s taste better than homemade. They are “so crumbly, buttery, crispy, and delicious” that our taste-testing team couldn’t stay away from them. Our team even noted that the bottom of each cookie has a rich caramelization like when you “bake cookies in an oven and the bottoms get a little dark, and thus nutty and deeply flavorful.” Get these for ya girls this Galentine’s Day. We promise they will love them almost as much as they love you (maybe more; these are some good cookies).

Extra Stuf Oreo Thins

According to Sporked‘s Jordan Myrick, these are the best Oreos Oreo has ever Oreo’d. That is to say, they comprise “the exact amount of creme and cookie you want. The thin cookie has a great snap and there’s not too much creme.” And if I were about to try the best Oreo of my life, I would want to do it with the women who mean the most to me. Sometimes, true platonic love is sharing a pack of Extra Stuf Oreo Thins with your best friends. And that’s just science.

Jet-Puffed S’more Vanilla Marshmallows (for S’mores)

If you can swing a Galentine’s Day dessert spread with a fire pit involved, then, by golly, you may just be singlehandedly changing the game. Also, Leslie Knope, ultimate Mother, inventor of Galentine’s Day, loves s’mores and so it is entirely appropriate to honor this day with the making of said marshmallow-y delights. But if you are going to make s’mores for your best gal pals, you better use the best marshmallows around. We recommend these vanilla marshmallows from Jet-Puffed, which our team described as “ethereal, square-shaped pillows with a lovely hint of vanilla flavor.” Yes, they are actually pre-squarified for you. I did the math and that’s four more bites of ‘shmallow than you would normally get, or in other words, that’s s’more s’more per s’more.

Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip Lovers Cookie Dough

We here at Sporked cannot tell you to go eat raw cookie dough. So for legal purposes, this whole paragraph is me talking about cooked cookie dough, not raw cookie dough.

This stuff is awesome. You know it, your mom knows it, your best friend Suzy knows it—we all know it. It is also absolutely PACKED with chocolate chips, which is why it is essential to have this at your Galentine’s celebration this year (for baking with, calm down). So if you want warm, fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies that “bake up chewy and gooey and absolutely stacked with chocolate chips,” then pick up a pack of this dough. It truly does taste like homemade (when you bake it, of course).

Krusteaz Belgian Waffles (and a TON of Clover Sonoma Sweetened Whipped Topping)

You simply cannot have Galentine’s Day without waffles and whipped cream. It is illegal and, as your friend, I simply willn’t let you. And before you get on my case about how “waffles are a brunch and breakfast food, not a Galentine’s Day dessert, JessuhCUH,” hear me out—waffles are the desserts of the breakfast world. They often come with chocolate sauce, caramel, maple syrup, or whipped cream (or all of those things combined). Plus, sometimes waffles literally are dessert—serve ‘em up with ice cream and you cannot sit there and tell me that waffles are still a breakfast food. And if you want waffles at your Galentine’s Day gathering but don’t have a waffle iron lying around, don’t even trip, my dude. According to Sporked editor-in-chief Justine Sterling, these Belgian toaster waffles from Krusteaz “taste so close to homemade—scratch that—restaurant-made waffles it is mind blowing.” Quit waffling and just get these.

Dr. Bombay Syrupy Waffle Sundaze

What could be more fitting as a Galentine’s Day dessert than waffle ice cream? NOTHING, that’s what. And not only is this stuff on theme, it is also on point and won a Sporked Award for being the single best ice cream our team tasted in 2023. It’s that good. The crew noted that “the base tastes like buttermilk waffles. The chunks of waffle are actual chunks of chewy waffle. And the brown butter syrup kicks everything up a notch.” This stuff is divine. Serve it up with a humongous tower of whipped cream and you may just summon Leslie Knope from the network television ether. Amy Poehler might just show up at your house with a spoon. Your TV might spontaneously turn itself on and start playing Season 2, Episode 16 of Parks and Rec.
