Taco Bell offers plenty of variety, but if you’re someone who needs their fast food to be dairy-free, it’s a tall order to do so here unless you’re dining in-restaurant. After all, everything from simple soft and hard tacos to many burritos contain cheese, sour cream, and other dairy-based sauces or ingredients.

But we’ve got good news: Taco Bell just made it so much simpler to get a dairy-free meal. And you don’t even have to drive to the restaurant or get out of your car.
Taco Bell Is Bringing Fresco Style Online
Up until now, there was just one way to avoid dairy at Taco Bell: You had to order your favorite items Fresco Style. But that meant removing key ingredients and toppings and replacing them with pico de gallo, if you were dong so in Taco Bell’s app, at least for the last few months. Fresco Style orders get rid of cheese, nacho cheese sauce, mayo-based sauces, and reduced-fat sour cream in favor of the fresh salsa.
Swapping items to Fresco Style didn’t cost extra, but it did come with a hassle: It was easy enough to request in person, but difficult to do when ordering online or in-app.
But recently, Taco Bell made a big change that might’ve flown under the radar for most diners. Now, Fresco Style is available online, making it a total breeze to order any item you’d like this way without complications (and without any added cost).
On October 12, 2026 Taco Bell added the “Make It Fresco” option into its online ordering system, according to @alwayslivingmas. So, if you’re dining dairy-free, you’ll now find this choice available on everything you browse online — and you can sub dairy for pico de gallo in a matter of seconds without writing a novel about your request.
This isn’t the first time that Fresco Style has been available for online orders. However, after a recent app update, the Taco Bell app removed it as an option, making it impossible for those who rely on the app to “Make It Fresco” without significant effort.
Taco Bell Fans Are Thrilled Fresco Style Is Back
While Fresco Style has always been an in-person option, those who are Taco Bell regulars are particularly thrilled this order swap has finally returned to in-app orders.
Commenters online are praising the change, calling Taco Bell “the GOAT of fast food” for making the change and dairy-free diners’ lives easier. Those who need to eliminate dairy or are plant-based or vegan are also happy; as one commenter said, “I’m not a vegan but I’m lactose intolerant. I will be looking forward to this.”
So, if you’ve been dying to return to Taco Bell (and its app) to “Make It Fresco,” it’s all possible right now.
