The Best Things We Ate This Week (Jan. 16-20)

Each week, the Sporked team sidles up to the tasting table and sets out to find the absolute best of the best packaged foods, the gold hidden in the grocery aisles. Each week we’ll bring you five standouts that truly rocked our taste buds and changed our lives—or at least our buying habits. Here are the best things we ate this week.

Bush’s Black Bean Dip

Most bean dips have a weird (and strong) citric acid-y taste. I hate it. Beans shouldn’t taste like that! Thankfully, this just tastes like 100% delicious, savory, flavorful beans. Plus, I love the cute little lid. I will definitely be buying this to snack on in the future.

Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Raspberry Duet Hearts

These are so precious. If my girlfriend gave me some of these on Valentine’s Day, I’d be happy before I even tasted them. Then, I’d be even happier when I tasted them because they’re delicious. The filling tastes like real raspberry, not raspberry flavoring. You even get crunchy bites from the raspberry seeds in the filling!

Eggo Liege-Style Buttery Maple Waffles

How can you not love the sound of “buttery maple”? Luckily, these taste just as good as they sound. They have crunchy little sugar crystals in them that are delicious—you don’t even need syrup. The waffle itself is soft and fluffy. And an added bonus is that these don’t need to be cooked or heated. You just take them out of the freezer, let them thaw a little, and they’re good to go.

Dietz & Watson Kosher Dill Pickles

These are pure pickle perfection. Dietz & Watson has done it. They have a great crunch. They’re bright, briny, and dilly. In my opinion, these are better refrigerated pickles than Grillo’s. I said it! I think they have more flavor and a better crunch. These are the pickles I’ll be buying from now on.

Barritt’s Ginger Beer

Not to brag, but one time I went to Bermuda for two days five years ago. This is the ginger beer they serve in Bermuda at the local restaurants (not the resorts). If Bermuda, the ginger beer capital of the world, loves this ginger beer, why would you buy any other ginger beer? This tastes so good. I would drink it straight up or mixed into a cocktail. Barritt’s is incredibly delicious.
