We all have the one product you’re itching to get back. Something you took for granted when it was around. Thinking it would always be there when you reached into the cupboard, the fridge, or the freezer. Personally mine is Butterfinger BB’s (and they’re always on my mind). What’s an equivalent product for Pepsi lovers? The beautiful and beloved Nitro Pepsi Vanilla Draft Cola.

Why Fans Love It (And Why We Miss It)
Nitro Pepsi isn’t a different flavor of Pepsi, but rather a different textural experience than regular Pepsi. How is it different? Let’s take a look at how Pepsi describes it: “The easy texture. The mesmerizing cascade of tiny bubbles. The silky, frothy foam head. The unapologetically Pepsi taste.” In layman’s terms, Nitro Pepsi is Pepsi that’s infused with nitrogen instead of carbon dioxide. The bubbles are smaller and the texture is smoother. Surprisingly, it also affects the taste. Because carbon dioxide is also slightly bitter, Nitro Pepsi is able to taste a little sweeter than regular Pepsi.
Fans love it because it’s an elegant experience. It’s like the Ferrari of the soda world. Now there is one important caveat here. Though Nitro Pepsi is currently available, Nitro Pepsi Vanilla Draft Cola is not. Terrible news for the niche fans out there. Perhaps things can be salvaged by getting a little creative with our own additives.
Oh who are we kidding? You can’t compete with the original recipe. Nothing we try to mix up will be as good. One swish of a whisk and who knows what’ll happen to those beautiful tiny bubbles.
How To Get Your Vanilla Draft Fix
There is a sliver of hope. You can buy a few rogue cans of Vanilla Draft on eBay including this listing for $5,000. A high price, but you can make an offer of any amount and see if the seller will bite. I almost made a joke offer of $1, but post tax and shipping it came out to $8. Frankly, I don’t know if I’m willing to even pay that price to a scalper. It’s about integrity, you know? In case that seller doesn’t bite at $1, there are other listings within the $20-$30 range.
For now, I’ll just wishfully look out my window. Hoping Pepsi will grace us with the presence of the Nitro Pepsi Vanilla Draft Cola on grocery shelves soon. If it takes too long, I may just have to succumb to the temptation of adding my own vanilla extract, even if it won’t be as good.
